Vomit of disgrace will fall on the glory of the unjust

In the book of Habakkuk, chapter 2, verse 16, we can observe God’s judgment on those unrighteous who live in dishonor.

The Lord ratifies His judgment and, through the prophet Habakkuk, rebukes men who are prone to drunkenness and who live in dishonor, with their minds uncontrolled and acting unjustly. That is why we see the Lord’s warning to these men: “Vomit of disgrace will fall on the glory of the unrighteous.”

Those who promote drunkenness also receive the word of the Lord through the prophet. Although they might think it is okay to drink alcohol that way, God communicates to them through the prophet that they are more full of dishonor than honor.

Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the Lord’s right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.

Habakkuk 2:16

It is essential to understand that if God is giving you this warning, it is so that you turn away from this behavior. The man who fills his cup and drinks without measure experiences a total lack of control in his life.

The apostle Paul also talks about the issue of drunkenness, and the book of Revelation warns that God will punish the drunkard. This leads us to understand that God does not approve of man’s drunkenness, since this makes him vulnerable to the enemy’s plans.

Dear friend, if you find yourself in this kind of situation, it is advisable that you turn away from that evil and submit to the laws of the Lord. This way you can preserve your honor before the Lord. God bless you.
