I want to meet Jesus

In this writing, speaking of the first book of John, in chapter 5, verse 20, we are exposed to the subject of the knowledge of eternal life. John, in this passage, shares a profound teaching about this knowledge, transmitting divine wisdom to the people. This teaching endures today and remains relevant to our lives.

Through this reflection, we understand that knowing Jesus implies immersing oneself in His sacred word. By doing so, we initiate a process of approaching Jesus, who represents eternal life.

John uses an expression that makes it clear that as children of God, eternal life resides within us. This exhorts us to maintain faith, since in trust in God we find our strength.

In addition, John addresses the idea that those who are of the Lord depart from sin, for they are bound to God. This conception encompasses the performance of good works, the propagation of the gospel of Christ and the rejection of the evil actions of the enemy.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 John 5:20

In the previous verse, John emphasizes that everyone born of God must abstain from sinning and preserve themselves in purity, since by keeping ourselves clean according to divine will, we prevent the enemy from exerting his influence over us.

John reminds us that the world lies under evil influence, so those who serve God must remain alert. Our identity as children of God requires us to safeguard His teachings in our hearts and avoid worldly fallacies. Thus, we persevere in our spiritual quest and seek the Lord’s help to guide us.
