The man who goes around committing perversities and atrocities is hated by God, they have a perverse mouth, all they speak is iniquity and they are arrogant.
The arrogant or haughty man is looked at from afar by God, because his attitude is not well seen before the Lord. In the verse that we will see later, Solomon teaches that many could not reach wisdom, since arrogant words came out of their mouths and they had a bad way before the Lord:
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 8:13
It is good to understand that the bad man, as much as he wants to do good things, this will not be possible, due to the behavior, the arrogance and arrogance that he carries, and that is why they will have a sad ending on the day of final judgment.
In order to be a good man with a good attitude, and that we can please the Lord, we must be humble and not behave badly before the Lord. Let us leave the bad way, the pride, and the perverse mouth. None of these bad behaviors are acceptable before the Lord. Let’s take this teaching so that we are well seen before our God.
The Scriptures repeatedly warn us about the danger of pride, because arrogance blinds the heart and hardens the conscience. A proud person does not easily recognize his own faults, nor does he accept correction, since he considers himself sufficient and superior. This attitude distances man not only from God, but also from his neighbor, generating conflicts, divisions, and a lifestyle that produces spiritual death.
When the Bible speaks of a “perverse mouth,” it refers to words that corrupt, destroy, and dishonor God. Words reveal what is stored in the heart, and when the heart is full of arrogance, the mouth overflows with pride, lies, contempt, and violence. That is why God hates not only evil actions, but also the attitudes and words that give rise to them.
Solomon, known for the wisdom that God granted him, clearly teaches that true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. Without reverence for God, human knowledge becomes empty and dangerous. Pride causes man to trust in his own understanding, forgetting that all wisdom, understanding, and discernment come from God alone.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18
This biblical principle is fulfilled again and again throughout history. Those who exalt themselves, who walk in arrogance and despise the ways of the Lord, inevitably stumble. Their fall may not be immediate, but it is certain, because God resists the proud and does not bless their paths.
On the other hand, humility opens the door to divine grace. A humble heart recognizes its dependence on God, seeks His guidance, and submits to His will. Humility allows the believer to be corrected, restored, and transformed. It is not a sign of weakness, but of spiritual maturity and wisdom.
God does not delight in those who appear righteous outwardly while harboring arrogance within. He looks at the heart and examines intentions. That is why it is essential to examine ourselves daily, asking the Lord to remove pride, cleanse our words, and align our conduct with His truth.
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:6
If we desire to please the Lord, we must renounce all arrogance and seek a meek and teachable spirit. Let us ask God to guard our mouths, to guide our steps, and to give us wisdom to walk uprightly. Only then will our lives reflect the character of Christ and bring glory to the name of the Lord.
Let this teaching remain in our hearts: pride leads to destruction, but humility leads to life. May we choose the path that honors God, so that on the day of judgment we may be found faithful, walking in righteousness and truth before Him.
