Flee from fornication

The biblical passage that we will see in this article is a writing from the apostle Paul to the Christians of Corinth, this mandate was for them to guard against the sin of fornication, it speaks to them about those who sin against their own body, which we must take care of, since with it we worship God.

That is why we see the title of this post, the apostle asks us to flee from fornication, since this sin will open the doors to other sins that will lead us to end our spiritual life, we must go to this great call:

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

1 Corinthians 6:18

The sin of fornication is plaguing the whole world, many obey the flesh more than the Spirit, that is why their spiritual life is declining every day, and that is why we must take more care of this sin. Let’s be brave and resist.

Brothers, as we already know, it is good that we take into account this call that the apostle Paul makes to us, let us take a moment and reflect on this sin, because we are an instrument created to worship our God, because if we do not obey, death will come into our lives. God keep you from this sin.

When the apostle Paul addresses the church in Corinth, he does so knowing the context in which these believers lived. Corinth was a city known for its immorality, excesses, and practices that openly contradicted the holiness that God demands from His people. Therefore, this exhortation is not casual or secondary, but a firm warning against a sin that destroys not only the testimony of the believer, but also their relationship with God.

Paul makes it clear that fornication is different from other sins because it directly involves the body. The body is not merely a physical structure, but an instrument that God has designed for His glory. When a person gives themselves over to sexual immorality, they are misusing what belongs to God, ignoring the purpose for which they were created. This is why the apostle insists on fleeing, not negotiating, not justifying, but running away from this sin.

Fleeing from fornication implies taking practical and spiritual measures. It means being vigilant about what we see, what we hear, what we allow to influence our thoughts, and with whom we relate. Many believers fall because they underestimate the danger of temptation, thinking they are strong enough to resist it. However, the Word of God teaches us that the wisest action is to flee, because no one is immune to falling if they trust in their own strength.

The decline of spiritual life often begins with small concessions to the flesh. When sin is tolerated, prayer weakens, the desire for the Word diminishes, and the sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is lost. Fornication not only affects the individual, but also damages families, churches, and the testimony of the gospel before the world. That is why this warning remains relevant today, perhaps more than ever.

God calls His people to holiness, not as a burden, but as a protection. Living according to His commandments preserves our spiritual life, strengthens our communion with Him, and allows us to walk in freedom. Obedience to God always brings life, peace, and blessing, even when it requires sacrifice and self-denial.

Let us remember that we have been bought at a price, the precious blood of Christ. Our lives no longer belong to us, but to the One who redeemed us. Therefore, honoring God with our bodies is an act of gratitude and worship. Let us ask the Lord for strength, wisdom, and discernment to remain firm, resisting temptation and walking in purity.

May this exhortation from the apostle Paul lead us to sincere reflection, to repentance where necessary, and to a renewed commitment to live according to God’s will. Let us flee from fornication and choose life, holiness, and obedience, trusting that God will always provide the way of escape and sustain those who seek to honor Him.

Come back to us!
I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness
