My feet have not slipped, because you Lord hold me

When we begin by reading this chapter 18 of the book of Psalms, we realize that he is speaking of the psalmist by his encouraging words, by how he expresses himself before the Lord.

David, when he wrote a psalm, did it wisely from above, these words were inspired by the Spirit of God that dwelt in him. Therefore, everything this man said was and continues to be a great blessing.

1 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

psalm 18:1-2

For the Psalmist David, all good words mentioned by him were to render praise to God, exalt Him for His good works and wonders.

David did not worship anyone but only God who is worthy of all worship.

But the psalmist also understood that no matter how much they set him up to fall with his feet, he did not fall because God supported him. God was his protection.

Sometimes we tend to despair and faint, but what we don’t know is that we don’t fall into a slide because God sustains us, because under Him we are being kept. God from heaven watches because we are safe every day just as He watched over David.

Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Psalm 18:35

David had such a devotion to God that he saw everything that came from God for him, for his humility, his compassion, his courage, and his dedication in everything he did. When David prayed to God, He listened to him and this happened because God saw his heart because everything in his heart was good, for this reason he responded to his call in bad and good times.

For being as he was, God gave him everything that according to His will David could have, he was a king chosen by God, and he was very blessed thanks to the mercy and power of God.

Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

Psalm 18:36

We are not alone. God is always with us, as a powerful giant. Let’s not forget that if we don’t slip it is because He removes all the obstacles that appear before us. Let us give glory and honor for His great mercy towards each one of us. Without Him, we would not have salvation, and we would slip, because He is the one who has sustained us.
