Are you looking for a miracle or are you looking for Jesus?

Let’s be honest. Most human beings do not go in search of the Giver of miracles, they do not want Him, they only want His miracles. We often see people who do not seek God, but when they have great difficulty, they turn to Him, but after they see their problem solved, then they forget Him.

To illustrate this a bit, let’s take a look at the story of the ten lepers:

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

Luke 17:11-13

It was normal that when Jesus passed somewhere people approached him asking for healing, and the ten lepers were no exception, who had to ask him from afar, since the lepers were not allowed to be close to healthy people, so, they had no choice but to stand up and raise their voices to see if Jesus listened to them and had mercy on them.

And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

Luke 17:14

See that Jesus sends the lepers to go to the priests as if they were already clean. They, in an act of faith, go to the priests and all are clean along the way. But then it happened that confirms what we said in the first paragraph of this article:

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

Luke 17:15

Out of ten healed, only one returned to glorify God with a loud voice. The others already had their problem solved, humanly speaking and they no longer needed Jesus, what need did they have of Him at that time? And this is what happens today, we kneel before Him when everything is gray, but we forget Him when things are going well.

We must seek Jesus every day, every moment, regardless of whether we are ok or not, we must seek him for what He is and not for what he can give or resolve. We must seek Him first, the other things in life He will solve them because he knows our needs. Remember what Jesus said about the eagerness and anxiety: But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33).
