7 beautiful Christian quotes but that are unbiblical

Today we see so many teachings that claim to be Christian and quotes that even say they are in the Bible, very nice quotes that have a good intention, but when we analyze them against the Scriptures, we find errors in those quotes.

The Word of God will always help us because they are revealed by the same Spirit of God, so that we will not be deceived by false teachers and those motivators who only want to say nice things to increase your self-esteem and your ego. Then we will dismantle many Christian quotes that are beautiful, but they are not biblical.

1- We are all children of God (The devil has no children)

Unfortunately, no, the Bible itself distinguishes between the children of God and the children of the devil. It is true that the devil has not given birth to anyone, but he who does his deeds is his son. We leave you an example:

You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?

Acts 13:10

If we are children of God, the same Spirit will give testimony of us, and all those around us will be able to see and confirm that we truly are.

2 – If God does not give you something, it’s because you deserve something better

Anyone would like to be told that, but unfortunately the only thing we deserve is punishment, if God gives us something good it is because of His grace, that we are not worthy of it:

he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

Titus 3:5

The previous verse tells us about salvation, it says it has been given to us, not because what we had done, but because of His mercy. Here we see clearly that when God gives us something, it is not necessarily because we deserve it, but buecause He in His infinite sovereignty wanted it to be so.

3 – I decree and God obeys me

There are people who think that God and the angels are at their service and are waiting to listen to any request to mobilize in their favor. The truth is that Jesus taught us to ask His Father to do His will:

your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:10

4 – Jesus is not religion, He is relationship

This quote occurs when they do not know the meaning of the word “religion”. People who use this quote want to give meaning to the word religion of someone who is legalistic. The the definition of the word religion in the Oxford dictionary is “the belief in the existence of a god or gods, and the activities that are connected with the worship of them, or in the teachings of a spiritual leader”. So, when you worship God, you are part of the Christian religion. The Bible itself tells us about religion:

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

5 – God believes in you

This quote has different variants, and is used to say that God has chosen us for some task for some quality that He saw in us. Those who use quotes like “God believes in you”, “God believes in this congregation”, etc. they are based on the men that God chose in the Bible to fulfill some mission. But they forget that God chose them not because He saw something special in them but because He wanted them to be.

Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.

Psalm 115:3

So, never forget that God is sovereign, He does as He wants when He wants.

6 – God gives more importance to what we are, than to what we do

Unfortunately, all sins are equal before the Lord (in terms of punishment) and we have to take care of both what we do and what we are. One day we will all be judged, for what we did:

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

Revelations 20:12

7 – God does not take something from you without replacing it with something better

There are two things to keep in mind. The first thing is that there are times when God takes something from us because it is damaging us and does not necessarily have to replace it with something else. The second thing is that there are things that are irreplaceable. Those who have lost loved ones will understand.

This God is our God forever and ever
God raises the poor from the dust
