It does not depend on us but on God

The letter of the apostle Paul to the Romans speaks clearly about why we should be calm, and let our God do as He wants, and that is that many of the things that happen in our lives do not depend on us but on God.

The above statement makes us clear about what God can do, in His time. Things do not happen when we want, they happen when it is God’s will. Let us understand something, we depend on our God.

The author gives us a clear example when he says “Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated”, asking if this is an injustice of God, but he reminds us of what God said to Moses “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion.” that I pity” and finally says:

So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Romans 9:16

So, there is nothing in us that makes God pity us, God’s mercy does not depend on us, it is God who has mercy and this mercy is manifested whenever He wants with whomever He wants, and this is confirmed in verse 18:

Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Romans 9:18

That is why we ask God for mercy for us, not because we are good, nor because we deserve it, it is because we are simple and weak humans, prone to fail, and although we try to be better every day, we never forget how fragile we are and that is why We ask for strength to resist. Lord, we look forward to meeting you when you come looking for your people. Amen.
