In this article we will see one of the verses of the sermon on the mount, where Jesus spoke about the beatitudes, about how one should act to treat others well. Jesus taught his disciples about what they should seek to be called children of God.
The Gospel according to Saint Matthew tells that when Jesus saw the crowd, He went up the mountain and there the disciples went to Him, and immediately the Master gave them a series of teachings. In his words, Jesus went on to say the following:
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Search for peace. That is the summary of the previous verse. A very remarkable characteristic of a Son of God is that he is not looking for war, but he is looking for a way to solve things peacefully. What reward do peacemakers receive? The verse we just looked at clearly tells us that they will be called children of God.
