Please come home. A moving story by Paul Washer

This woman made her life outside of Rio de Janeiro. She was very poor, in a house with a dirt floor, and her greatest fear was that: She had a beautiful, beautiful daughter and she knew that one day her daughter would leave her house and go to Rio de Janeiro to try to make a better life, and she knew what would happen to her daughter if she went there.

One day the woman came home, and her daughter was gone. There was a note on the table that said “I went to Rio to find a life.” The mother knew what would happen. She took all the money she had, bought a bus ticket to Rio de Janeiro, and then she went to a small photo shop, a photo studio. And she spent a lot of money – the mother did it just by taking pictures of herself then the mother went to Rio de Janeiro and spent months there. She searched every hotel, every restaurant, every movie theater, every nightclub, everywhere she searched for him, and every place she went she left a photo with her face. Finally she ran out of money and returned to her house.

One night her daughter was coming down the stairs of a hotel, and she was with a man. She had become a prostitute. She looked to have aged 15 years, she was coming down the stairs, and she felt like she was going to die, but she looked in the mirror, and saw how old she looked, and then something caught her eyes. She saw a picture of her mother! She grabbed the picture. She couldn’t believe it! She turned it over, and on the back of the photo she read this: “I don’t care what you became, and I don’t care what you did.

Please come home!” I know all about God’s sovereignty, but at the same time when I look at the New Testament, this is what I hear God saying to me: “I don’t care what you’ve become, and I don’t care what did you do. My son paid the full price on the cross. Now, come home!” Some of you young people here are going to ruin your lives. Some of you adults carry scars that will never be erased because of the sin in your life. And some of you, the The only thing they have seen in Christianity is a dead religion.

But, I serve a living God, who has sent us a living Savior, and He calls all men to turn from their sins and turn to Him. And those who turn to Him, He will not cast out those who believe in Christ. He is that Savior, He is mighty to save! Don’t let anyone stand between you and come meet him. One of the saddest things I always have to do is preach, preach about the love of God. It’s so sad, because no matter how hard you try to preach it you can’t describe God’s love for sinful men. God is love! and He provided us with a Savior. And if you don’t turn to Him, the fault will be yours. Thank you, very kind.
