Old paths? Wich are the old paths? Many use this term as a matter of interpretations as far as clothing is concerned, and there is a text in the Bible that is very famous for speaking of the ancient path, but do we really know its correct meaning?
Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)
The Lord’s people were straying from the path, but this was not the end, but in Judah there was still wisdom to stop and understand that they should return to their principles as God’s people.
The old paths and the good way are the same; they are the way of repentance, reconciliation, fear, and love of God. They were the way of the tradition of Moses. (Feinberg)
The people of Israel were given to falling into idolatry and other sins, and that is why God, as a father speaks to His son with love, tells them to stop on the road, to stop walking aimlessly and to ask questions about what they practiced before.
The old path is nothing more than the same Word and will of God, that although we live in a world that is increasingly moving towards the modern, the Word of God does not pass and we must walk along that path, yes or yes.
