Why does God love me?

Why does God love me?

I could leave this article empty as a full answer to our question, which is that we cannot find a single reason why God loves us. Sure, we are His creation, but let’s remember that that same creation has been the one that has turned its back on God since the Genesis story.

So why does God love us? Why did He give His only Son to die for our wickedness? Why? Within this glorious answer we find the word “grace”, and it is that God does not love us because we do the right things, because we deserve it or because we are better than others, God loves us because His grace has dictated it.

The Bible teaches us:

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8 (KJV)

God did not show His love for us because we were good people, but because we were bad people, we all were, and that is why the apostle Paul says in chapter 3 of the letter to the Romans that we all came short of the glory of God, for being terrible sinners.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

1 John 3:1

Thank God who loves us, not because we are good, but because He in His mercy has decided so.
