I think a lot about the current world, how everything goes from bad to worse, how calamity takes millions of people in the world, and millions and millions of them are without hope, without consolation, they feel abandoned, without any purpose in life. And thinking about it, I got to the point that although we Christians have the same calamities, we must be confident, because we have a promise of salvation. The best news we can give is that Christ has really paid the full price on the cross of Calvary, He has saved us through His death and resurrection on the third day, and that is enough for us to have hope and comfort, that we feel accompanied and with a legitimate purpose in life.
The apostle Paul wrote:
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 (KJV)
