God told His people Israel multitudes of times that He would be with them, that He was their redeemer and their guider. Now the point here is that many times these people despised that God. In the same way today, God has told us that He is our Redeemer, are despising Him? He is not only the Redeemer, but He is the only redeemer.
The Bible says:
1 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
Isaiah 43:1-3 (KJV)
These promising verses come from biblical stories of their own. God had changed the name of Jacob to Israel, just as parents name their children at birth. So God was a Father to Israel and was His redeemer at the same time.
Then He reminds them of the event of the Red Sea or of the Jordan, how His people went on dry land and the deep waters did not drown them. And in the same way, just as that God had liberated them from the sea or the river, He could liberate them from the fire.
That same God is with us, helping us, He is our Redeemer and strong Rock. There is no other Redeemer, there is no other way, there is nowhere to go but to God.
