Zacharias is considered one of those books where there are prophecies about the second coming of Christ and the renewal of Israel. There are even parts of that book that look as if we are reading the book of Revelation.
This book also introduces God as sovereign of Israel and of all the earth:
6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
Zacharias 14:6-9 (KJV)
This chapter is titled “The Lord’s Day” and it tells us about events that are to take place.
Zacharias is looking at the glory of Jerusalem in the reign of the Messiah. And in that reign, even if there is no night or day, God, with His own light will light them, so they will not have that need.
At that time God will exercise His dominion and sovereignty over the earth. .
We faithfully await the Lord’s day at His coming, and we long for that day where we will glorify Him for an eternity.
