Two great commandments

The commandments given by the Lord to Moses were clear, but in the people of Israel, many did not comply with these commandments and that is why sometimes judgment of God came to the people.

So we must obey the laws of our God all the time, until the great day comes when we meet Him.

In the book of Mark chapter 12 in his verses 29 to 31, we see Jesus speaking of two great commandments:

29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Mark 12:29-31 (KJV)

Jesus speaking that people says to them “Hear Israel, the Lord your God is one”, with this they are being warned that there was no other God like ours, great and powerful and who could do the deeds that He does, because there are no other gods.

“You will love your God with all your heart”. This was the first commandment for the people of Israel and that is also for each of God’s creation. You must love God with all that you are and above all things.

And the second commandment is to love your neighbor as ourselves, and ends by saying, that there is no greater commandment than these. So let’s do what God has set before us.
