An high look, and a proud heart, is sin

We must humble ourselves before our God because we said in our hearts  that we must be humble before Him.

Remember that the Bible itself speaks of people who were haughty and very proud, and God does not like these things in people’s lives.

6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Psalm 138:6-8 (KJV)

When we read the Bible, we will meet Jesus Himself talking about those people who were not humble and that is why He taught them about humility. A person who exalts himself for everything, who lives by putting everything as the best and the first thing in his heart, which is filled with vanity, God looks at these people from afar.

While Jesus was leaving a place, a rich young man came to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him what he should do to have eternal life. Jesus replied that he should keep the commandments, love his father and mother, not kill. The young man replied that he was doing all that and Jesus, knowing his heart, told him that something was missing and it was to sell everything he had and give it to the poor to have treasures in heaven. Hearing this, this young man left sad.

We can notice that this rich young man wanted to have eternal life but without paying any price. Apparently, his assets were more important than salvation.

The love of money is something that can contribute to the haughtiness in your life, because having many belongings can make people vain.

An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

Proverbs 21:4 (KJV)

That is why we must humble ourselves before God, be humble above all, because all we have we owe only to Him, we must prostrate ourselves before His presence to give glory and praises from the heart.

There is none outside of God
God the only refuge
