We are Christians, a people acquired by God, and behind that is the responsibility to live a consecrated life before God, a way of living different from that carried by people who do not know God and it is good that we have this very clear, that we are united to Christ and that leads us to be different.
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
In the first verse Paul is very concerned that the church should walk worthily with the vocation with which they had been called. In the same way, we too must walk worthily with the vocation that has been called to us.
We must live humbly, for the Bible tells us that God looks at the proud from afar and the humble from near. We must also be patient with each other, remembering that Jesus said that we should love our neighbor as ourselves and that in this way we fulfilled all the law.
So, Paul through these verses invites us to live together in that hope in which we have been called.
