Christ died for us on Calvary’s cross, defeating the flesh in the flesh, destroying the works of the enemy, gave us redemption, salvation and loved us with a love that we cannot even calculate. Instead, what have the works of the flesh done for our good?
The apostle Paul said to the Romans:
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:12-14
So, we are debtors, as the apostle says, and debtors for the work of Christ on the cross who gave His precious blood for us. We are not indebted to our past way of living, which did not add anything good to us, but through that life we are dead in our crimes and sins.
Instead, Christ redeemed us with His blood and made us new creatures, and an evidence of that salvation will be that we no longer revive the works of the flesh, which bring death, instead, the works of the Spirit are life in Christ Jesus and if we are led by the works of the Spirit then we are true children of God.
