Show me your ways Lord

The ways of our God are straight and we must walk in them every day, because being in the right way of God we will know more about Him and about the things that we must practice day after day.

Oh Lord, teach us Your ways every day, strengthen our lives and remove all bandages that prevent us from walking in Your paths, because in this way we can advance and we will not deviate from Your statutes.

The Lord is the one who shows us the way we should walk, He is the one who opens our eyes so that we do not stumble. Let’s give glory to God because He is always present to help us when we want to stray from the path. God is our good shepherd.

When we speak about the ways of God, we are referring to a life that is guided by His truth, His commandments, and His love. Walking in His ways is not something that happens automatically; it is a daily decision that requires humility, obedience, and a willing heart. Each day brings new challenges, and only by remaining attentive to God’s voice can we continue walking firmly without losing direction.

Many times, distractions, worries, and even our own desires try to pull us away from the path of righteousness. That is why it is so important to constantly ask the Lord to guide us. Without His guidance, we are prone to make decisions based on our own understanding, which often leads us away from His perfect will. God, in His mercy, does not abandon us, but patiently calls us back when we stray.

Psalm 25 shows us some words expressed by David towards God, asking for protection, forgiveness and direction. These words reflect a heart that recognizes its need for God and understands that without Him, the journey becomes uncertain and dangerous.

4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

Psalm 25:4-6

Why did the psalmist ask for these things? Well, we can see that David, like everyone, even though he was a king, could sin and sometimes that happened, this man failed before God, but as the text we just read says, David asked for the direction, forgiveness and protection of God.

David understood that position, power, or experience did not make him immune to failure. Instead of hiding his mistakes, he humbled himself before the Lord and acknowledged his dependence on God’s mercy. This teaches us an important lesson: true strength is found not in self-confidence, but in total reliance on God.

So as human beings we are, at any time we can fail before God, we are not perfect, but if this happens, what should we do? Go before the presence of God, ask for forgiveness and also ask Him to give us direction and to protect us every day.

God delights in a repentant heart. When we come before Him sincerely, He forgives us and restores us. His desire is not to condemn us, but to guide us back to the right path. His Word becomes our compass, showing us where to walk and warning us when we are about to take a wrong turn.

Walking in the ways of God also means trusting Him even when we do not fully understand the road ahead. There will be moments when the path seems difficult, narrow, or even lonely, but those are often the moments when God is shaping our character and strengthening our faith.

Let us, therefore, make it our daily prayer to ask the Lord to teach us His ways. May He remove every obstacle that prevents us from walking uprightly and give us discernment to recognize His voice. If we remain faithful and willing to be guided, we will experience His peace, His protection, and the joy of walking securely in His paths.
