God must occupy the first place in our hearts. He alone deserves absolute priority in our lives, our thoughts, and our decisions. In Him we must place our trust, because He never fails and never casts His word to the ground. Every promise spoken by God is firm, faithful, and true. When human support fails and circumstances change, God remains constant. His Word stands forever, and those who trust in Him will never be put to shame.
Placing God first is not merely a statement of belief, but a daily commitment. It means that our confidence does not rest in our abilities, resources, or circumstances, but in the unchanging character of God. When God occupies the first place in our hearts, our priorities are reordered, our fears are diminished, and our faith is strengthened. Trusting God fully brings peace, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Our strength comes from God, even when we feel completely exhausted and without strength of our own. There are moments in life when human energy runs out, when discouragement weighs heavily upon the soul, and when continuing forward seems impossible. Yet it is precisely in those moments that God manifests His power. He makes His Holy Spirit descend upon us so that we may be renewed and strengthened from within.
The strength God gives is not merely physical or emotional, but spiritual. It is a strength that sustains faith, restores hope, and renews perseverance. Through His Holy Spirit, God empowers us to endure trials, resist temptation, and continue walking faithfully. We believe in God, and because of that belief, we trust that He is always watching over us, guiding our steps and guarding our lives.
The difficulties, neither the times, nor anything can separate us from His glorious presence, nor can they cause us to stop believing in His holy and divine will. Life may bring seasons of pain, loss, and uncertainty, but none of these have the power to remove us from the presence of God. His faithfulness does not depend on circumstances. God remains present in every season, and He is in control of all things.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psalm 28:7
It is a joy to observe how the author of this psalm speaks about the Lord with such confidence and assurance. This man clearly understood where his trust needed to be placed. He knew that outside of the Lord, there was no true security, no lasting protection, and no reliable strength. That is why he boldly declares: “The Lord is my strength and my shield.” These words reflect a deep and personal relationship with God.
Calling the Lord his strength means that the psalmist recognized God as the source of all endurance and power. Calling Him his shield means that he trusted God as his protector against danger, fear, and adversity. This is not poetic exaggeration, but a confession born out of lived experience. The psalmist had seen God intervene, sustain him, and deliver him in times of need.
This truth remains valid for believers today. When we feel weak, when we feel unable to continue, when our hearts are overwhelmed, God comes and changes all things. He lifts the weary, comforts the brokenhearted, and gives strength to those who wait upon Him. God does not abandon His children in their weakness; rather, He draws near and reveals His power in their frailty.
It is good that our hearts also believe completely in the promises of the Lord. God has promised that He will come to our help in times of trouble, and He is faithful to fulfill every promise He has spoken. The Lord is the one who shepherds us in all places, guiding us with care and wisdom. Even in delicate places, where danger seems near and uncertainty surrounds us, He remains our Shepherd.
He is our Shepherd in places of darkness, when clarity is lost and fear tries to take hold. In those moments, God does not abandon us. He leads us gently, protects us from harm, and walks beside us until the light returns. His guidance is constant, and His presence is a source of comfort and assurance for His people.
That is why we must sing praises to God. Praise is a natural response to recognizing who God is and what He has done. His is the glory, the honor, and the power forever. When we praise Him, we declare our trust, our gratitude, and our dependence on Him. Worship lifts our eyes from our problems and focuses our hearts on the greatness of God.
We praise His Name because there is no one like Him. No power compares to His power, no love equals His love, and no faithfulness surpasses His faithfulness. Only God is our shield, our refuge, and our defender. He guards us, preserves us, and sustains us through every season of life.
Therefore, we believe only in the Lord. Our confidence is not divided, nor is our trust misplaced. We rely fully on God, knowing that He is faithful and true. And because He is with us, because He strengthens and protects us, we will always be overcomers. In Christ, and through the power of God, victory is assured, and hope remains firm until the end.
