The Word of our God is encouragement to our spirit, because through it we can understand the things that God has put in front of us.
His Word enters our hearts and fills our entire interior. When we are in total despair we turn to it and it supports us. This is because God is the author who knows each of our intentions.
There is a very nice song by Puerto Rican singer Danny Berrios that says: “Your word I hid, kept in my heart, for me not to sin against you Lord, Your word I hid”. It is based on Psalm 119:
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11
Through this we can understand that if we keep the Words of our God in our hearts we will avoid sinning against the Lord, because by having them in our hearts we will take them wherever we go.
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Proverbs 3:1-2
This is a command of the Lord for each one of us, above all things let us search His words, and keep them in each of our hearts, because if we do this, then God will give us length of days, for being faithful to His words, and is that in this way we are obeying God.
In this way we can know the tricks of the enemy, when he comes to us with strange things. God would also help us so that when evil comes, it will not harm us, because He will protect us.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
In our day to day life His words light our way, in the dark we will not stumble because His light will illuminate us. We can understand things we did not understand because His words lit our thoughts.
It is good that every day we try to have the Word of God as our main support, because through them we will be enlightened in all our walk.
