We are Christians, children of the Most High, we go through many painful situations on a daily basis, we have to deny ourselves many things to show the world that we do not belong to this world, we live in a way so different from the system of this world, that many people can call us lunatics, hateful, intolerant, etc, but we abide steady despite all this, since we know that we have a promise and we should only wait and persevere in the midst of all this social chaos.
The apostle Paul wrote to the church in Galatia:
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.
30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.”
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
We remember the great story of Abraham, the man who God had given him the promise of a son in his full old age and that of that son would have seed as the sand of the sea or the stars of heaven. But Sarah became desperate and made Abraham have a child with the slave from whom Ishmael was born, then the promise that God had made to him was born, which was Isaac.
Beloved brothers, the promise made by God was not Ishmael, who was the son of the slave, the promise of God was a son of Sarah and Abraham. Remember that Sarah was sterile but the slave was not. We must understand that we serve the God who can transform impossible things into really possible things, into things that surprise, He is the one who can turn the heart of stone into a heart of flesh, He is the one who can put flesh on dry bones, simply our God is capable of doing wonders unequaled and that was just the promise given to Abraham, which was not easy humanly speaking and that is where God does feats, when we think that everything is lost.
The apostle Paul makes it very clear by saying that we are children of the promise like Isaac. My brethren, we are truly children of the promise, raised up justly with Christ at the time of Him rising, baptized in His death and firmly awaiting our glorious hope that Christ will come for His beloved church.
We must not despair in waiting for God’s promise, we must not deviate from God’s plan, which is wonderful and wants the best for us, we must be perseverant.
A great sign that God fulfills His promises is that God gave them the promised Isaac, even though they truly despaired for a moment and this is something that happens to us too, but never let our eyes be turned away from the giver of the life which is Jesus Christ, so, let us continue to the target and keep our faith firm in the promise.
