3 things the Bible tells us we are

We are the people of God, as the Bible itself describes: Holy nation, royal priesthood, people acquired by God. We are owned by God, we belong to Him and no one else. He is our owner and Lord, and therefore it is important that we know those things that the Bible tells us we are, so that we have an identity in the Lord.

In a world that constantly tries to define us by our achievements, failures, social status, or personal struggles, the Word of God reminds us that our true identity is found in Him. When we understand who we are in Christ, our way of living changes. We stop acting according to the standards of this world and begin to live according to the calling that God has given us. Knowing our identity is not a matter of pride, but of responsibility, because God has entrusted us with a mission and a testimony before all people.

We are the salt of the earth

Salt has certain properties that if you remove them, then it stops being salt. The same goes for us Christians, we are the salt of this earth, whe are the ones who do this world to make sense. We are in charge of transmitting the message of salvation for the lives of the inhabitants of this world and that is precisely why Jesus tells us that we are the salt of this world:

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Matthew 5:13

Salt preserves, gives flavor, and prevents corruption. In the same way, Christians are called to influence the world with truth, love, and righteousness. When we compromise our faith or adapt ourselves to values that are contrary to God’s Word, we lose our effectiveness, just as salt that has lost its savor. Our role is not to blend in with the darkness, but to stand firm in Christ and preserve what is good in a society that often walks far from God.

We are salt, do not let this world fade us, let us salt this world.

We are the light of the world

We are the light, we are the ones who illuminate the absolute darkness of this world. We are those who with our message of life and our works show the world that there is light in us and that they can be illuminated by it.

Jesus said:

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16

Light exists to be seen. Its purpose is to illuminate what is hidden and guide those who walk in darkness. As believers, we reflect the light of Christ through our actions, attitudes, and words. This light is not something we produce on our own; it comes from Jesus Himself, who is the true Light of the world. When we live in obedience and love, others can see that light and be drawn to God.

Something we never do is take a lamp and hide it, on the contrary, we place it visible, in a place where it illuminates the whole place. Let’s show the world that there is light in us and that that light is called Jesus, who is enough to shine even in the deepest darkness.

We are children of God

The Bible tells us that we are children of God and that through Christ we have an inheritance in heaven.

We have a Heavenly Father, who listens to us both in difficult times and in good times and who is never busy so as not to attend to us.

The apostle Paul said:

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Galatians 3:26-27

Being children of God means that we are loved, accepted, and cared for by Him. It also means that we have a responsibility to reflect the character of our Father. Just as earthly children learn from their parents, we learn from God through His Word and His Spirit. Our lives should show gratitude, obedience, and trust in Him.

We are children of God, so we must live differently and act as such.
