Considering the text of our proverbist, where he opens the following question in the book of proverbs chapter 31:10
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Proverbs 31:10
Our starting point will be the question of the proverb, he says: Virtuous woman, who will find her? Let’s see 7 qualities of a virtuous woman, of a woman of God:
1-The virtuous woman fears the Lord
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:30
The woman who is truly virtuous will fear God above all things, and when we speak of a God-fearing woman we are talking about a woman that every step she takes is as if God were behind her, considering that the eyes of God are on top of her, and must guard herself against evil, from sin.
2-The virtuous woman considers her clothing
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
1 Timothy 2:9
When the Bible speaks of modesty, it is not about trying to dress the woman as if she were in a sack, it is about your dress must glorify God, and if your dress is sensual then you are not glorifying Him. So I think that every woman at the time of buying her clothes or looking in a mirror should look at her body from head to foot and ask herself the following question: Does God love these clothes that I am wearing? It may sound legalistic, but what we must understand is that we are different from those people who are without Christ, therefore, everything we do must be for the glory of God.
A woman who is truly virtuous considers her dress so as not to offend God with her clothes, keeping her body pure for God and her husband.
3-The virtuous woman makes her husband confident
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Proverbs 31:11
There is no better thing than a quiet marriage, where jealousy does not exist, and this is the point where a truly virtuous woman must completely earn her husband’s trust. We know that there are couples where there is no room for zeal, where a happy marriage is lived, where everyone does not have the fear that their partner is unfaithful, now we see that these things are earned, as the proverb says:
The heart of her husband is in her confident, And will not lack profits. (Proverbs 31:11)
So if you are truly virtuous you will make your husband trust you and be quiet.
4-The virtuous woman is “attentive”
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Proverbs 31:15-17
The woman who is truly virtuous leads the concern for all the things that concern her at home, being aware of those things that correspond to her, she is not lazy.
We can not link machismo with this, a man must also help his wife in the home, but the woman must take the initiative in what concerns the organization of the home.
5- The virtuous woman builds her house
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Proverbs 14:1
“The wise woman builds her house”
If you are truly virtuous you will build your home in every sense of the word, especially in the spiritual sense. If you see that your home is dwindling in prayer and in spiritual things and you see that your partner does not take the initiative, then take it and build your house, knowing that the fundamental basis of a home is Christ, and if we are not linked on that foundation, our home can easily be destroyed.
6- The virtuous woman knows how to choose her partner
The virtuous woman will be very observant at the time of making the decision to have a partner, will not take into account only the beauty, because as the proverb says: “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain”. Therefore, the truly virtuous woman will choose a man who loves God and His word.
7- The virtuous woman glorifies God no matter what her situation.
We have all read the story of Job, when his wife says to him: “Curse your God and die” (Job 2:9). The truly virtuous woman knows how to glorify God in a difficult moment, knowing that all things work together for good and that in due time God will bring calm.
