What is being rich? One can be rich in many ways, although we mainly emphasize this word for those people who have a high economic position. But there is a wealth much better than money, and that wealth of wich we will talk about next is not possessed by human beings, but only is possessed by God: “Mercy.” You will say “But I have seen many people have mercy for others”. It is correct, but what you should know is that mercy is an attribute that belongs only to God and that He in His infinite love moves others to mercy.
The Bible speaks about the sublime and inexhaustible mercy of God from beginning to end. The apostle Paul said:
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
These verses highlight the mercy and love that God has had for us. What greater love exists than that a father gives his son as a sacrifice to save people? The love of God is the greatest that has existed and exists, there is no love that can overcome His great love. His mercy is greater than the wide sea and has no end.
We were dead in our transgressions and sins, and God did not leave us in that dark death, but He sent His only Son as a ransom for our salvation, and there is no other greater act of mercy than that which God has done for us.
You feel sad? Are you waiting for a miracle? I want to tell you that the greatest reason for joy in our lives is that Christ loves us as no one loves us and that the Father is rich in mercy. So He has promised to be with us until the end.
Rich in mercy
The Lord God, our Father, loved us in a way we can not understand, his love brought him to gave his only beloved Son, in whom he is well pleased. The evangelist Matthew tells us: “And see a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)”
So does our heavenly father loved us more than his own beloved Son? He did not mind to give his Son to be sacrificed instead of all the people who were cast down in Hell for ever.
We are not able to value, as is due such an action from the Creator of all things: He shows his love for us that even when we were dead in sins, Christ died for us. And he has quickened us together with him in a way that, as Christ lives, those who believe in him, we, that have believed in him, also live. I can cry out: “I live oh Lord, because you live.. I go to Heaven, I go to your Glory because oh Lord you gave me the victory.”
We are saved by the grace of God, a gift we don’t deserve in any way, but He is pleased to give us a portion in his kingdom. By his love, since we did not do anything to be pardoned: Our blessed saviour, Jesus made it all, he paid for our debts. He died for us and he rose from dead to our justification.
May the Lord God be praised for ever, and Jesus Christ, his Son whom he has sent to bless us for ever more. Thank you, oh almighty, loved God!
