O Lord, how great is Your name, and how wonderful is Your mercy toward Your children. You are the giver of life, the helper of the weak, and the comfort of those who cry before You. That is why my heart can pray with confidence: answer my prayer Lord, because all my longings are open before You.
Lord, I thank You because You have been good and kind to all Your children. Even in the midst of trials, Your mercy has remained around us. Even when our strength has failed, Your hand has sustained us. Even when our hearts have been filled with anguish, You have not abandoned us. You are the God who sees, the God who listens, and the God who draws near to those who call upon Your name with sincerity.
Lord, You are my helper. You keep me and sustain me at all times. Without You, I can do nothing, because You are the One who gives me breath, strength, wisdom, and hope. When I am in anguish, You bring comfort. When I am confused, You guide me. When I feel weak, You lift me up. When I do not know what to say, You understand even the sighs of my heart.
Thank You, Lord, because only to You can I truly cry. When I cry to You, I find relief in my soul. When I pour out my heart before You, I remember that I am not speaking into emptiness, but to the living God who hears His children. That is why all my trust will always be placed in You. I surrender all that I am before Your presence, because I know that You will not disappoint those who wait on You.
My family, my house, my future, my burdens, and everything around me are in Your hands. I ask You, Lord, that when I feel I no longer have strength, You help me and do not let me fall. Give me new strength to move forward. Renew my faith when discouragement rises. Guard my heart when fear tries to take control. Teach me to rest in You, because **You are my refuge and my strength**.
I ask You, Lord, to listen to my prayer every day. Deliver me from every dart the enemy throws against me. Keep my mind from despair, my heart from bitterness, and my steps from evil. I believe in You. I know that nothing is impossible for You, because You are the Strong Rock, the faithful Savior, and the God who remains the same in every season.
All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.Psalm 38:9
God sees what no one else can see
Psalm 38:9 is a deeply comforting verse because it reminds us that nothing is hidden from God. David says, “All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.” These words reveal the heart of a man who knows that God sees beyond appearances. People may see our face, hear our words, and notice our actions, but only God sees the deepest part of the heart.
There are burdens we cannot explain well to others. There are sighs that never become complete sentences. There are tears that fall in silence. There are prayers that come out broken because the soul is tired. But the Lord understands all of it. He knows the desire behind the sigh, the pain behind the silence, and the hope behind the tears. **Our sighing is not hidden from Him**.
This truth should bring peace to every believer. We do not need to pretend before God. We do not need to wear a mask in His presence. We do not need to act strong when we are weak. The Lord already knows our condition, and still He invites us to come near. He is not surprised by our weakness. He is not distant from our pain. He is not indifferent to our cries.
The Lord hears the cry of His children
One of the greatest comforts in Scripture is knowing that God hears the voice of His people. He is not like the idols that cannot listen or respond. He is the living God, full of mercy and compassion. When His children cry out to Him, He hears. Sometimes His answer comes quickly. Other times, He teaches us to wait. But His silence never means absence, and His timing is never wrong.
Many times, when the heart is overwhelmed, the first temptation is to believe that God is far away. We may think, “Does God see what I am going through? Does He hear my prayer? Does He care about my pain?” Psalm 38:9 answers us with tenderness: yes, the Lord sees; yes, the Lord hears; yes, the Lord knows. Our longings are open before Him.
This is why we must continue praying even when we feel weak. Prayer is not only for moments when we feel spiritually strong. Prayer is also for moments when we feel broken, confused, and tired. The weak prayer of a sincere heart is precious before God. He does not reject the cry of His children.
The believer can take comfort in the truth that God will hear your voice and redeem your soul. This does not mean that every problem will disappear immediately, but it does mean that our prayers are not ignored by heaven. God is attentive to the voice of those who seek Him with humility.
God’s mercy surrounds us in the middle of trials
O Lord, I thank You because despite the trials, Your mercy has remained around us. Sometimes we focus so much on the pain that we forget the mercy that is sustaining us. We see the difficulty, but we forget that we are still standing because God has upheld us. We feel the weight of the burden, but we forget that His grace has carried us farther than our strength could have taken us.
The mercy of God is not a small thing. It is the reason we are not consumed. It is the reason we can begin again. It is the reason we can approach God even after failure. It is the reason hope remains alive in the soul. Every morning is a testimony that God has not finished His work in us.
There are moments when we do not understand the purpose of our trials. We ask why the process is so long, why the answer has not come, or why the pain continues. But even when we do not understand, we can trust the character of God. His mercy is not absent in suffering. His mercy often becomes more visible in suffering, because it is there that we discover how much we need Him.
This is why the people of God can continue praying in difficult seasons. We pray not because life is easy, but because God is faithful. We pray not because we have all the answers, but because we know the One who does. We pray not because our hearts are always strong, but because **His mercy is stronger than our weakness**.
Bring your anguish before the Lord
David did not hide his anguish from God. He brought it openly before the Lord. This is an important lesson for us. Many believers think that true faith means never expressing pain, never admitting weakness, and never saying that the heart is tired. But the Psalms teach us something different. They show us believers crying, pleading, lamenting, confessing, and seeking God honestly.
God is not offended by sincere prayers that come from deep pain. He receives the brokenhearted. He listens to the afflicted. He knows how to comfort the soul that feels crushed. What He does not desire is hypocrisy, pride, or a heart that refuses to come to Him. The Lord invites us to pour out our hearts before Him.
There are burdens that become heavier when we try to carry them alone. But when we bring them to God, we are reminded that we were never meant to be our own saviors. We need the Lord. We need His comfort. We need His strength. We need His wisdom. We need His presence. Prayer is the place where the soul stops pretending and begins to rest in God.
This is why a prayer like prayer asking for mercy in times of trial is so necessary for the Christian life. Trials teach us that we are dependent creatures, and mercy reminds us that God is a compassionate Father who does not despise the cry of His children.
God is our helper when strength fails
Lord, when I feel that I cannot continue, help me. When my strength is gone, renew me. When my heart feels heavy, comfort me. When the enemy throws darts of fear, doubt, and discouragement, defend me. You are my helper, and without You I cannot stand.
Every believer must learn this truth deeply: our strength is limited, but God’s strength is not. Human strength can fail quickly. Emotions can change from one day to another. The body grows tired. The mind becomes overwhelmed. But the Lord does not grow weary. He sustains those who depend on Him.
Sometimes God allows us to reach the end of our own strength so that we may learn to lean on Him more fully. This is not to destroy us, but to teach us dependence. When we stop relying on ourselves, we begin to discover the sufficiency of God. When we confess our weakness, we make room to experience His grace.
The Christian life is not lived by human power alone. It is lived by faith in the God who strengthens His people. We pray, we obey, we continue, and we persevere because the Lord sustains us. If He were not holding us, we would fall. If He were not guiding us, we would lose the way. If He were not keeping us, we would be overcome.
The Lord knows our longings
Psalm 38:9 says, “All my longings lie open before you, Lord.” This means that God knows not only our words but also our desires. He knows what we hope for, what we fear, what we need, and what burdens our hearts. Nothing is hidden from Him. Even the desires we do not know how to explain are fully known by the Lord.
This should encourage us to pray with honesty. Sometimes we do not know exactly what to ask. Sometimes our desires are mixed with fear, confusion, or impatience. But God knows how to search the heart. He knows what is good for us. He knows what must be corrected, what must be strengthened, and what must be surrendered.
We can bring our longings to God, but we must also submit them to His will. Not every desire of the heart should rule us. Some desires need to be purified. Some plans need to be redirected. Some requests need to be shaped by Scripture. The safest prayer is not merely, “Lord, give me what I want,” but “Lord, make my heart desire what pleases You.”
This is why prayer changes us. We may begin prayer by bringing our burdens to God, but as we remain in His presence, He begins to align our hearts with His truth. He gives peace. He gives wisdom. He gives patience. He teaches us to trust Him even when the answer is not what we expected.
God receives the prayer of the brokenhearted
There are people who feel unworthy to pray because they are weak, tired, or ashamed. But Scripture shows us that God invites the brokenhearted to come. The Lord is near to those who are crushed in spirit. He does not despise repentance. He does not reject humility. He does not turn away the soul that comes before Him sincerely.
This does not mean we come to God casually or without reverence. He is holy. He is majestic. He is the Lord of all creation. But because of Christ, we can come with confidence. Jesus opened the way for sinners to approach the Father. Through Him, we find forgiveness, mercy, and grace in our time of need.
When the heart is broken, the enemy may whisper that God will not listen. But the gospel tells us something greater: Christ receives those who come to Him. He is gentle and lowly in heart. He does not crush the bruised reed. He restores, cleanses, strengthens, and gives hope.
Therefore, do not stay far from God because you feel weak. Weakness is not a reason to run from Him; it is a reason to run to Him. The one who knows he is weak is ready to receive divine strength. The one who knows he needs mercy is ready to treasure grace.
God’s mercy gives us reasons to thank Him
Thank You, Lord, because You have been with me in good times and bad times. Thank You because You have heard my moaning from heaven. Thank You because You have seen me when I was anguished. Thank You because You have lifted me when I could not lift myself. Thank You because Your mercy has not failed.
Gratitude is a powerful response of faith. It teaches us to remember what God has done instead of only focusing on what we still lack. A grateful heart looks back and says, “The Lord has helped me until now.” It looks around and says, “The Lord is sustaining me today.” It looks forward and says, “The Lord will remain faithful tomorrow.”
This does not mean that gratitude ignores pain. David could thank God while still crying out in distress. The believer can be honest about suffering and still worship. We can weep and still trust. We can feel weak and still give thanks. Gratitude does not deny the trial; it recognizes God’s mercy in the middle of it.
That is why we must never forget the mercy of God. His mercy sustains us every day. His mercy forgives, restores, comforts, and strengthens. If we are still standing, it is because mercy has held us. If we still have hope, it is because mercy has visited us.
Prayer teaches us to surrender everything to God
Lord, I surrender my family into Your hands. I surrender my house, my plans, my fears, my future, and my needs. Teach me not to carry what belongs in Your hands. Teach me not to live dominated by anxiety. Teach me to trust You with what I cannot control.
Surrender is not easy for the human heart. We often want to control outcomes, people, timing, and circumstances. But prayer teaches us to release our burdens before the Lord. It reminds us that we are not sovereign. God is. It reminds us that we are not all-wise. God is. It reminds us that we are not strong enough to carry everything. God is.
When we surrender to God, we are not giving our burdens to someone careless. We are placing them in the hands of a faithful Father. He knows how to care for what we love. He knows how to guide what we cannot see. He knows how to work even when we do not understand.
This surrender must happen daily. Every morning we must bring our hearts before God again. Every day we must say, “Lord, I need You. Lead me. Keep me. Help me. Correct me. Strengthen me.” The Christian life is not sustained by yesterday’s prayer alone. We need fresh dependence on the Lord.
Christ is the reason we can approach God
The greatest reason we can pray with confidence is Jesus Christ. Because of Him, we do not approach God as strangers without hope. We come through the Savior who died and rose again. Christ carried our sins, opened the way to the Father, and now intercedes for His people.
This means that our confidence in prayer is not based on our perfection. It is based on Christ. If our prayers depended on our worthiness, we would have no confidence. But because Christ is our mediator, we can come boldly to the throne of grace. There we find mercy and help in time of need.
This should humble us and encourage us. It humbles us because we know we do not deserve access to God by our own merit. It encourages us because we know that Christ has made the way. Therefore, when we pray, we do not come trusting in our works, emotions, or religious performance. We come trusting in the finished work of Jesus.
Conclusion
Psalm 38:9 reminds us that our longings are open before the Lord and that our sighing is not hidden from Him. This is a precious comfort for every believer who feels burdened, weak, or overwhelmed. God sees what others cannot see. He hears what others cannot hear. He understands what we cannot fully explain.
Let us come before Him with confidence, sincerity, and humility. Let us bring our families, our burdens, our fears, our tears, and our hopes before His throne. Let us trust that He is our helper, our refuge, our strength, and our strong rock. Nothing is impossible for Him.
Thank You, Lord, because You hear the sighs of Your children. Thank You because Your mercy surrounds us in trials. Thank You because You lift us when we cannot rise by ourselves. Thank You because You are with us in good times and bad times. Blessed be Your name forever, because all our longings are open before You, and our sighing is not hidden from Your presence.

A prayer of consolation
The Lord God listens to such a prayer, which goes out from a grateful soul that feels the blessings of the Lord. It goes confidently to the throne of grace. The believer pours out his soul in a thanksgiving to Him, who sits in the throne, whom he loves.
I have read in the article of today the prayer which is sincerely expressed, is characteristic of a true child of God. I copy only a paragraph, but I say Amen to all of it:
“Oh Lord, how great is your name, You who are the giver of life, I thank you for how great and kind you have been with all your children. Thank you because despite the trials, your mercy has remained around us.”
May the Lord God, the Author of all consolation, eternally blessed. Amen.
Amen.
