God crowns you with favors and mercy

Coming to Christ is not as easy as many people think; many believe that when you come to Christ the problems disappear and you begin to live a life free of all evil, but this is not true, being a Christian has a cost, a great cost. We must erase the idea that everything is rosy, although the truth is that there is a peace that Christ places in us, which exceeds all knowledge and this is real, it does not matter that we have the greatest difficulty, if Christ is with us, then we can rest in the powerful and tender hands of our Lord.

The True Nature of Discipleship: Facing the “Great Cost”

The contemporary message often simplifies the walk of faith, presenting it as a magical solution to every worldly inconvenience. However, a deep study of the theology of the cross reveals that following Jesus is not a path of comfort, but a path of transformation. When we speak of the “cost,” we are talking about the surrender of the ego, the prioritization of the eternal over the temporal, and the willingness to stand firm when cultural tides pull in the opposite direction.

Being a Christian is more than a label; it is an active participation in the life of Christ. This participation includes His joy and peace, but also His rejection by a world that does not understand spiritual truths. The “rosy idea” of Christianity fails because it doesn’t prepare the believer for the spiritual warfare that inevitably begins when one decides to live for God.

The Peace that Surpasses Understanding

While the cost is high, the divine compensation is incomparable. The peace mentioned in the scriptures is not a psychological state induced by positive thinking; it is a supernatural anchor. When the external world is in chaos, this peace acts as a protective barrier around the heart and mind. It is the assurance that, regardless of the outcome of a trial, our soul is secure in the hands of the Creator.

The psalmist said:

3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

Psalm 103:3-4

Analyzing the Mercies of God: A Study of Psalm 103

The words of the psalmist are not merely poetic expressions; they are foundational truths for the life of the believer. This passage lists specific benefits that God provides to those who seek Him. It begins with the fundamental need of every human being: the resolution of the sin problem.

The Total Forgiveness of Sins

The phrase “forgives all your sins” is revolutionary. It doesn’t say “some” or “the minor ones.” In the Greek and Hebrew understanding of total restoration, all means all. This forgiveness is the basis for our relationship with God. Without the removal of the barrier of sin, we cannot experience the fullness of His presence. This legal justification through Christ allows us to approach the throne of grace with confidence, knowing that we are no longer defined by our past failures but by His current grace.

The Manifestation of Divine Healing

We do not serve any God, we serve a God who takes care of us, a God who is never busy for us, our God is always ready to listen to us and help us in our ailments, and this is why the psalmist says: “and heals all your diseases”. No matter what problem you are going through, there is no greater trial than God, there is no problem stronger than God, our God is powerful to help us and not let us sink into the hole in which we find ourselves.

God is Never “Too Busy” for His Children

One of the greatest lies the enemy tells us is that our problems are too small for God’s attention or that God is preoccupied with the “big issues” of the universe. The omnipresence of God ensures that He is fully present with every individual at every moment. When the psalmist speaks of healing “all your diseases,” he is referring to the holistic restoration of the person. Whether it is a physical ailment, an emotional wound, or a spiritual sickness, God’s power is sufficient. He is the Great Physician who diagnosticates the heart and applies the balm of Gilead where it is most needed.

Believing in the God of the Bible: Our Only Refuge

It is a privilege that we can believe in the God of the Bible, since in Him we have refuge and He keeps us and delivers us from all evil.

Refuge in the Midst of the Storm

A refuge is not a place where the storm is non-existent; it is a place where the storm cannot destroy you. The world offers many false refuges: wealth, power, entertainment, or human relationships. However, these are “broken cisterns” that cannot hold water. The God of the Bible is an unshakable fortress. He “keeps us” not by removing us from the world, but by protecting our spiritual essence while we navigate through it. This divine preservation is what allows us to face the unknown with a sense of triumph.

The Power of God’s Promises

In addition to all this, God has made promises to us through the Scriptures and we have to hold on to them and faithfully believe the words of the psalmist that say: “He crowns you with love and compassion”. Praise God for the good that He has been with us.

When we “hold on” to the promises, we are exercising active faith. This is not a passive waiting, but a persistent declaration of truth over our circumstances. To be “crowned with love and compassion” means that God changes our status. We were orphans, but now we are royalty; we were condemned, but now we are recipients of His steadfast love (Hesed).

The Daily Maintenance of the Soul: Kindness and Compassion

It is also important to remember that the Christian walk, although difficult at times, is filled with the continual kindness of God. He not only forgives our sins and lifts us from the deepest pits, but He also sustains us daily with His compassion. Many times we do not even realize how many dangers God has spared us from, how many attacks of the enemy He has blocked, or how many tears He has dried in silence. The simple fact that today we can breathe, stand firm, and continue believing is evidence of His faithful mercy working behind the scenes.

The Invisible Hand of Protection

Often, we measure God’s goodness only by the “blessings” we can see and touch. However, a significant part of His grace is preventative. He blocks the plans of the enemy before they even reach us. This “behind the scenes” work of God is what keeps us from being consumed by the darkness of this world. Every breath we take is a gift of grace, a reminder that our life is in His hands and not at the mercy of chance or evil intent.

The Theology of the “Pit” and Redemption

The “pit” mentioned in Psalm 103 can represent many things: depression, addiction, despair, or the consequences of our own mistakes. The beauty of the Gospel is that God doesn’t just wait for us at the top of the pit with advice; He descends into the pit to lift us out. This is the redemptive power of Christ. He reaches into the deepest darkness of the human condition and brings us into His marvelous light.

Walking with Confidence in His Loving Care

As children of God, we must cling to His promises and trust that every step we take is being watched over by His loving hand. Trials do not mean abandonment, nor do afflictions mean that God has turned His face away. On the contrary, some of the deepest revelations of His love come precisely in our most difficult moments. When strength runs out and the path becomes heavy, then we discover that God truly carries us. The psalmist declared that He “crowns us with love and compassion,” and this is not poetic language—it is a reality that renews us day after day.

Trusting the Sovereignty of God

Trust is built in the furnace of affliction. It is easy to say “God is good” when everything is going well, but to say “God is good” when the path is heavy requires a deep-rooted faith. We must understand that God’s perspective is eternal. He sees the “finished product” of our character, while we only see the painful process of refinement. Every difficulty is filtered through His fingers of love before it reaches us. He never allows a trial that is greater than the grace He provides to endure it.

The Renewal of Strength

God’s compassion is not a one-time event; it is a daily supply. Just as the Israelites received manna every morning, we receive fresh mercy every day. This continuous renewal is what prevents the Christian from falling into permanent discouragement. When we are exhausted, we can exchange our weakness for His strength. This is the “great exchange” of the Christian life: we give Him our burdens, and He gives us His rest.

Conclusion: The Reward that Surpasses the Cost

Therefore, let us walk forward with confidence, knowing that the cost of following Christ is great, but the reward is greater. He heals, restores, lifts, crowns, and surrounds us with His unfailing love. When storms rise, He is our refuge. When fear knocks, He is our peace. When discouragement visits, He becomes our strength. Let us praise God continually for His goodness, for even in our weakest moments, His compassion remains a crown upon our lives—a reminder that we belong to a faithful God who never abandons His children.

A Final Call to Perseverance

Do not be intimidated by the “cost” mentioned at the beginning. Yes, the walk is narrow and the path can be steep, but the Company we keep makes all the difference. Jesus Himself walked this path before us and He walks it with us now. The “crown of love” is not just for the end of the journey; we wear it today as a sign of our identity in Him. Let us live in a state of constant gratitude, recognizing that we serve a King who is both powerful enough to rule the heavens and tender enough to dry our tears. The goodness of God is our permanent song, and His faithfulness is our eternal security.

The Lord fights for you
A just God, who hears the prayer of the righteous

    ==========================
    The Lord God…
“Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,”
    Psalm 103:4

It is the Lord God who has
redeemed us from hell, and he is favourable to us with his love and mercy.

Nothing can separate us from his love. His fidelity is for us since the beginning of time; we can be people at ease, trusting in his love.

That love we receive, which is incomprenhesible for us, is something that does not depend on our will or wish, it is the sovereign grace of the almighty God who acts as he pleases, in justice and mercy to the humble heart of men and women wherever they are.

We must humiliate our spirit, as we are able, giving thanks to Him that did not see our injustice, but he had mercy on us before we were in this World. The Lord Jesus Christ is our warranty. He reconciled us with the eternal Father.
The Lord Jesus is the incarnated God who is the same with the Father.

May we be eternally grateful to our Lord.
