The Lord will not abandon you

Every day we must remember that the Lord does not abandon us at any time and least when we are going through trials and difficulties, He is there to help us, to give us strength.

Sometimes as human beings we make bad decisions that affect us in such a way that we ask ourselves: “Why is this happening to me?” But let’s not forget that the Lord is always with us.

I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Psalm 16:8

Our trust must always be in the powerful hands of God, He is the one who helps us, He accompanies us wherever we go, He will give us peace and we will receive words of encouragement from Him.

Good when we read the book of Psalms where we meet the Psalmist David expressing how great and wonderful the Lord has been with him, that in his difficult moments God has been present to give him new strength.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.

Psalm 16:9

The Psalmist David was a man who, despite his mistakes, humbled himself with all his heart before God. The Lord helped him, sustained him, took care of him, this man truly knew how to fall in love with God. When he cried out to God he did so with all his soul, his flesh, even with his goods.

For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

Psalm 16:10

This man is one of the greatest examples we find in the Bible, a wise man, who served with dedication to the Lord, who trusted in God fully. It is good that every day we can humble ourselves with all our being, soul and everything we have, and maintain our trust in the Lord.

When we meditate on these verses, we discover that David’s confidence was not based on circumstances but on the unchanging character of God. David lived through persecutions, betrayals, fears, and long seasons of uncertainty, yet his faith remained firm because he learned to fix his eyes on the Lord. This is a powerful reminder for us today, because many times our hearts waver when problems arise, but faith teaches us to stand firm, trusting that God is at our right hand and will not allow us to be moved.

Life presents moments in which everything seems to crumble. Trials often come unexpectedly, and sometimes we feel overwhelmed by responsibilities, sickness, financial challenges, or emotional burdens. But it is in those very moments that the Lord invites us to draw near to Him and rest in His promises. Just as David declared that his flesh would rest in hope, we too must learn to surrender our fears to God, believing that He is able to sustain us and renew our strength.

One of the greatest comforts we have is knowing that God sees our struggles and understands our weaknesses. The Scriptures show us a God who walks with His people, who listens to their cries, who responds with mercy, and who never abandons a contrite heart. David experienced this countless times, and that is why he could express such deep confidence in God’s protection and care. His life teaches us that no matter how great the storm may be, God is even greater.

Another important truth we learn from these verses is that hope in God is not temporary but eternal. David trusted that the Lord would not leave his soul in darkness, and this prophetic declaration also points to the resurrection of Christ, who conquered death and opened the door of salvation for us. Because of this, we can face the future with confidence, knowing that our hope is anchored in something unshakable and everlasting.

Therefore, each day we should cultivate a heart like David’s: a heart that seeks God with sincerity, that depends on Him fully, and that finds joy in His presence. Let us remember that God’s faithfulness does not change with our circumstances. He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever, and His promises stand firm for all who trust in Him.

May these words encourage us to draw nearer to the Lord, to set Him before us always, and to walk confidently knowing that He is at our side. If we keep our eyes on Him, like David, we will not be moved, and our hearts will rejoice in the hope that only God can give.

Who against us?
The Lord shall deliver me from every evil work

    I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Psalm 16:8

    The fidelity of our God is the warranty we have he does not abandon us. Our sins should be a handicap to meet the Lord because he is three times holy, that is to say, he is the only Holy God who rejects our facts against his Law.

    Therefore we would be lost and hopeless if our refuge was not Jesus, the Lamb of God sacrificed to cleanse all our sins. May His name be blessed for ever.

    He knows us and he predestinated us to be formed by his will, to be the image of Jesus, his perfect Son. So he sees us perfect and pure people before his sight, since Jesus is a perfect and pure man, even true God.
    He sees His Son, as in a mirror, we are his image that are seen on it.
    This is a marvellous thing, but it is real, as the Bible tells us:
    “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers” Romans 8:29.

    Because the Lord Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, we that have believed in Him, like David says in the Psalm, neither shall be moved nor abandoned.

    Thanks to you oh my heavenly Father, that you love me in Jesus Christ, the firstborn among many brothers. Amen
