It is true that when Christ brings us to His ways we begin to live the best life we have ever lived, but it is also true that the beginning of the Christian life is very similar to a marriage, in the beginning of a marriage we seem to have no problems and it seems that everything goes rosy, but then we begin to pass processes, difficulties, and exactly that happens in the Christian life, everything seems to start easy, but then we see that it becomes difficult, uncomfortable, trials, etc.
But, we must remember that Christ never promised to be comfortable, although He did promise us to have a peace in the midst of those difficulties, which the world does not give us.
We have a war, a struggle, which is not easy, and we must put on the armor of our God to be able to persevere in this constant struggle, and we must know that Christ is with us every day, until the end.
The apostle Paul wrote:
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:11-12
We must take these words of the apostle very seriously. The Christian life is not like many people think, it is not a Five Star Resort where with a telephone you ask for everything you want and they take it to your room, no! The Christian life is based on a struggle and not any struggle, but a struggle against spiritual beings, a struggle against ourselves and if we are not clothed with God we can not win.
Sometimes we believe that we alone can win a battle and that is totally false. In the sports world, in order to be victorious, the best team must have players who know how to share plays, must have a manager who knows how to make plays and that same thing happens in the Christian faith, if we fight on our own we will lose, but if we fight The Christian life with God as manager we have all the win and no one can against us.
And as the years pass in our walk with Christ, we begin to realize that the difficulties we face are not signs of abandonment, but proofs of His love. God allows these trials not to destroy us but to strengthen us, just as a soldier is trained through discipline, resistance and perseverance. The battles we confront—whether internal or external—become instruments through which God shapes our character and matures our faith. Every trial endured, every temptation resisted, and every tear shed becomes a testimony that the grace of God in us is stronger than any adversity. And although our flesh becomes weary at times, the Spirit of God continually renews us from within, enabling us to press on with courage.
One of the greatest dangers we face as believers is forgetting that we cannot fight spiritual battles with human tools. We may attempt to confront fear, anxiety, temptation or discouragement with our own strength, but soon we learn—sometimes painfully—that the arm of flesh always fails. This is why Paul urges us to put on the full armor of God, because without it we are exposed to the enemy’s attacks. The truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation and the Word of God are not optional accessories; they are the very weapons that sustain us in the midst of war. A Christian without armor is a Christian defeated before the battle even begins. But a believer clothed with God’s armor is unshakable, because his strength does not come from himself but from the Almighty.
Therefore, let us learn to depend entirely on Christ. Let us begin each day acknowledging that without Him we can do nothing, and that our greatest victories will always be the ones won on our knees. When Christ manages our battles, directs our steps and governs our hearts, no scheme of the enemy can prosper. The Christian life is not about avoiding conflicts, but about standing firm in the power of God in the midst of them. And although the path may be narrow, full of challenges and marked with spiritual warfare, we walk with the certainty that He who called us is faithful, and that He will sustain us to the end. Blessed is the believer whose confidence is wholly in the Lord, for he will never be put to shame.
The Reality of the Spiritual Battlefield
Understanding the nature of the Christian life requires a deep recognition of the battlefield[cite: 1]. Many come to the faith expecting a life free from conflict, yet the scriptures clearly define our experience as a warfare[cite: 1]. This struggle is not accidental; it is an inherent part of following a Master who was Himself rejected by the world[cite: 1]. When we talk about spiritual forces, we are referring to an organized opposition that seeks to dismantle our peace and distance us from our divine purpose[cite: 1]. The transition from the “honeymoon phase” of faith to the reality of the struggle is where true discipleship is forged[cite: 1]. This period of testing serves to remove the reliance on emotions and replace it with a steadfast commitment to the truth of God’s Word[cite: 1].
The Subtle Nature of Spiritual Schemes
The enemy does not always attack with a frontal assault[cite: 1]. Often, the schemes of the devil are subtle, designed to slowly erode our confidence in God[cite: 1]. These schemes might manifest as distractions, a gradual coldness of heart, or the whisper of doubt during a difficult season[cite: 1]. The Christian walk demands a high level of alertness[cite: 1]. If we are not vigilant, we may find ourselves reacting to people and circumstances rather than addressing the spiritual root of the issue[cite: 1]. Recognizing that our primary fight is in the spiritual realm allows us to choose the correct weapons, shifting our focus from earthly arguments to heavenly intervention through prayer and scripture[cite: 1].
The Components of the Full Armor of God
Paul’s description of the armor of God is not merely poetic; it is a tactical manual for survival[cite: 1]. Each piece represents a specific aspect of the character of Christ that we must put on daily[cite: 1]. To be clothed with God is to operate in His authority rather than our own limited capacity[cite: 1]. When we neglect even one piece of this equipment, we create a vulnerability that the adversary is quick to exploit[cite: 1]. Therefore, spiritual preparation is a non-negotiable requirement for anyone who wishes to stand firm in the day of evil[cite: 1].
The Belt of Truth and the Breastplate of Righteousness
The foundation of all armor is the belt of truth[cite: 1]. In ancient warfare, the belt held everything together[cite: 1]. For the believer, living in truth means having a life integrated with the reality of God’s Word[cite: 1]. This prevents us from being swayed by the lies of the enemy or the deceptions of our own hearts[cite: 1]. Coupled with this is the breastplate of righteousness[cite: 1]. This is not a righteousness we earn through works, but the imputed righteousness of Christ[cite: 1]. It protects our heart from the accusations that we are not worthy or that we have failed beyond hope[cite: 1]. Staying anchored in Christ’s perfection is our only defense against the paralyzing weight of guilt[cite: 1].
The Shield of Faith and the Helmet of Salvation
The shield of faith is our active defense against the “fiery darts” of the wicked one[cite: 1]. These darts are often thoughts of fear, hopelessness, or spiritual fatigue[cite: 1]. Faith acts as a barrier that extinguishes these attacks before they can take root in our soul[cite: 1]. Meanwhile, the helmet of salvation protects our mind[cite: 1]. The battlefield of the mind is where most spiritual wars are won or lost[cite: 1]. By guarding our thoughts with the assurance of our eternal security in Christ, we maintain a perspective of victory even when the immediate circumstances look bleak[cite: 1]. A mind centered on the hope of glory is a mind that cannot be easily manipulated by worldly terror[cite: 1].
Living Under the Management of the Holy Spirit
The metaphor of God as our manager is vital for understanding the sovereignty of God in our daily lives[cite: 1]. A manager takes responsibility for the strategy, the timing, and the ultimate outcome of the game[cite: 1]. Our role is to be obedient players who trust the directions given from the sidelines[cite: 1]. This relationship requires humility; we must admit that our “plays” are often flawed and short-sighted[cite: 1]. By surrendering the control of our lives to the Holy Spirit, we enter into a rest that is only possible when we know the Final Victor is on our side[cite: 1]. This surrender is the secret to the supernatural peace Christ promised—a peace that exists because the responsibility for the outcome rests on His shoulders[cite: 1].
The Discipline of Daily Submission
Submission is not a one-time event but a daily discipline[cite: 1]. Each morning presents a choice: will I rely on my own understanding, or will I trust in the Lord with all my heart[cite: 1]? The Christian discipline involves a constant recalibration of our desires to match God’s will[cite: 1]. This often means walking away from what feels easy and choosing the path of righteousness and sacrifice[cite: 1]. However, the reward for this submission is a strengthened spirit and a life that reflects the glory of God[cite: 1]. The more we submit to His management, the more we see His providential hand orchestrating even the smallest details of our journey for our good and His honor[cite: 1].
The Purpose of Trials: Shaping the Soldier of Christ
It is essential to understand that trials are purposeful[cite: 1]. God does not allow suffering without a redemptive intent[cite: 1]. Just as gold is purified in the fire, our faith is refined through the heat of adversity[cite: 1]. These “processes” mentioned in the original text are the sculpting tools of the Master Creator[cite: 1]. Without the pressure of the struggle, our faith would remain superficial and weak[cite: 1]. Endurance in the faith is built over time as we see God’s faithfulness repeated across different seasons of life[cite: 1]. Every spiritual mountain we climb provides us with a better view of His majesty and a stronger heart to face the next valley[cite: 1].
Finding Strength in Spiritual Community
While the individual armor is crucial, the struggle is also communal[cite: 1]. No soldier fights a war alone[cite: 1]. The body of Christ serves as a support system where we carry one another’s burdens and offer spiritual encouragement[cite: 1]. When one member is weak, others provide the covering of prayer and the strength of fellowship[cite: 1]. This interconnectedness is part of God’s design to ensure that no believer falls into isolation, which is the enemy’s favorite place to attack[cite: 1]. By remaining rooted in the church, we benefit from the collective wisdom and spiritual maturity of the group, making us much more formidable against the powers of darkness[cite: 1].
Final Perseverance and the Promise of Victory
The ultimate goal of the Christian life is to finish the race with joy[cite: 1]. This requires unwavering perseverance[cite: 1]. We must keep our eyes fixed on the author and finisher of our faith[cite: 1]. The difficulties of this world are temporary, but the eternal weight of glory they produce is beyond comparison[cite: 1]. We do not fight for victory; we fight from victory[cite: 1]. Christ has already overcome the world, and our struggle is simply the process of manifesting that victory in our current time and space[cite: 1]. The assurance of Christ is our greatest asset, providing the spiritual stamina needed to endure until the day we see Him face to face[cite: 1].
The Call to Constant Watchfulness
We must never let our guard down[cite: 1]. Watchfulness is a hallmark of a healthy spiritual life[cite: 1]. This means being aware of the influences we allow into our homes, the thoughts we entertain, and the priorities we set[cite: 1]. A consecrated life is one that is set apart for God’s service, protected by the power of the Holy Spirit[cite: 1]. As we move forward, let us be bold in our witness and firm in our convictions, knowing that the One who is in us is greater than he who is in the world[cite: 1]. The struggle is real, but the triumph is certain for those who remain hidden in Christ[cite: 1].
In conclusion, the transformation of the believer is a magnificent work of grace that occurs in the thick of the battle[cite: 1]. By embracing the processes and difficulties as opportunities for growth, we honor the calling we have received[cite: 1]. Let us put on the full armor with intentionality and walk with the dignity of a child of God[cite: 1]. The journey may be arduous, but the presence of Christ makes every step worth taking[cite: 1]. We are not merely survivors of a struggle; we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us[cite: 1]. May your faith be emboldened and your spirit be refreshed as you continue to stand firm in the mighty power of our Lord and Savior[cite: 1].
Continuing our journey, we must recognize that the Christian armor is not just for protection, but for advancement[cite: 1]. As we move into new territories of faith, the spiritual equipment God provides ensures that we are prepared for every environment[cite: 1]. Whether in times of abundance or times of lack, the Word of God remains our constant guide[cite: 1]. Let us commit to a life of prayer and meditation, allowing the truths of scripture to saturate every fiber of our being[cite: 1]. In doing so, we become beacons of light in a world that desperately needs the hope of the Gospel[cite: 1]. Our victory is not for our own glory, but for the exaltation of the King of Kings, whose kingdom will have no end[cite: 1].
Furthermore, the maturation of the believer is a continuous process[cite: 1]. We are constantly being shaped into the image of Christ[cite: 1]. This means that we must be willing to let go of old habits and worldly mindsets that hinder our progress[cite: 1]. The sanctification of the soul is a beautiful yet challenging endeavor, requiring us to yield to the potter’s hand[cite: 1]. As we do, we find that our capacity to love, to forgive, and to serve increases exponentially[cite: 1]. The struggle is the catalyst for this growth, pushing us to rely more fully on the infinite resources of our Heavenly Father[cite: 1]. Stand tall, believer, for the Lord of Hosts is with you, and His arm is not too short to save[cite: 1].
As we look to the future, we do so with a holy anticipation[cite: 1]. The promises of God are yes and amen in Christ Jesus[cite: 1]. No matter how fierce the battle becomes, we know that the outcome is secure[cite: 1]. Let us encourage one another daily, building up the house of faith with stones of praise and worship[cite: 1]. Our spiritual legacy is defined by our faithfulness in the midst of the fire[cite: 1]. Let us leave behind a testimony of unwavering trust and undivided devotion to the Lord[cite: 1]. The warfare is but a moment compared to the eternity of peace that awaits us in the presence of our God[cite: 1].

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood
==========================
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11
Our resistance to devil’s schemes cannot works if we are not properly prepared. First of all we must flee from them in the moment we feel we are tempted to transgress the Law. Flee and ask help to the Lord.
Maintain the truth of Gospel in our mind and heart, faith in Jesus and his work for our salvation, the Word of God which defeats the enemy of our soul and praing always in the Spirit, yes, we need the power of the Lord to stand resisting in the evil day. As tells us the apostle James:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7.
To struggle against devil’s schemes, we are called to…
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6:18
