There is a happy ending for the people of peace

The transgressors will have a tragic end for their actions, but there will be a happy end for the man of peace.

The Psalmist David understood that for the bad people their moment would arrive. David believed in the Lord and in His promises, that everyone who persecuted Him would have their reward. In the same way the righteous will also have a just reward:

Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
a future awaits those who seek peace.

Psalm 37:37

What does a righteous person do, or what can an honest person do? The righteous practices justice with others, the person with integrity is faithful in everything they do, because if is they are faithful to their Lord, how much more with their neighbor.

But all sinners will be destroyed;
there will be no future for the wicked.

Psalm 37:38

What will the Lord do with all those who do evil and who seek to harm the life of the righteous? The Lord will remove them from the way of the righteous, and all their riches will be taken away from them, so that they will no longer have the strength to damage the righteous, they will no longer have silver or gold, because God will take away everything.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

Psalm 37:39

Remember that the Psalmist David was a wise man, who found himself in difficult situations, never backed down, but kept going asking the Lord to strengthen him and help him overcome his enemies. God did not leave him alone, the Lord was with him, but above all David knew that salvation was from God and who gave him strength was the Almighty.

When we meditate on Psalm 37, we see a profound contrast between the destiny of the wicked and the destiny of the righteous. David is not speaking from theory but from long experience walking with God through trials, betrayals, and moments of deep anguish. He learned that evil may appear to triumph for a moment, but its success is only temporary. God has established a moral order in which wickedness will always collapse under its own weight. The transgressor may boast today, but his end is already marked by destruction. On the other hand, the righteous may suffer now, may endure injustice or persecution, yet their final outcome is guaranteed by the promises of God. Peace, restoration, and salvation await those who trust in the Lord with a sincere heart.

This is why David repeatedly invites us to examine the upright and consider their way of life. The righteous are not defined by perfection, but by faithfulness, humility, and a heart that seeks God above all things. They walk in integrity even when no one sees them, they choose righteousness even when doing so brings loss, and they extend peace even to those who oppose them. Such a person reflects the character of God, and therefore God Himself becomes their defender. While the wicked rely on their strength, their wealth, or their schemes, the righteous rely solely on the Lord. And because their trust is placed in Him, their future is secure. No evil can erase what God has decreed, and no enemy can undo the plans God has formed for His people.

One of the greatest comforts in this Psalm is the assurance that the Lord Himself upholds the righteous in times of affliction. David knew this personally—he had faced adversaries stronger and more numerous than himself, yet he always saw the hand of God sustaining him. This same God watches over us today. When trouble comes, He becomes our fortress; when fears rise, He becomes our peace; when strength fails, He becomes our refuge. Salvation is not something we produce through our efforts—it comes from the Lord alone. May this truth strengthen your heart today. Even if evil seems to advance, remember that God has the final word. Those who walk in His ways will shine at the end, and their peace will be everlasting.

    “But all sinners will be destroyed; there will be no future for the wicked.” Psalm 37:38

    Since Salvation belongs to the Lord and it is applied to people of peace, really these people shall have a happy ending.

    We are not good people in ourselves, it is God who had compassion on us because it so pleased Him. However we are tested, as gold is purified, so that we let people see our fidelity to our Master in the World. We feel our weakness and the power of Satan against us, so we must recognize we have been successful by the mercy of the Lord only.

    Rebel people, sinners who do not bow their head before the Lord that they might not hear, nor receive instruction, and therefore they shall be destroyed, and nobody shall see them again.

    May the Lord God deliver us from our wickedness since we are not better than others. We live by His mercy.
