Mercy of God towards a just king

Everyone who has read the books of the kings and the chronicles of the kings of Israel, will realize that just as there were very bad kings, there were also very good kings. We have David, Solomon, Jehoshaphat, among others. In this article we will talk about a particular king, Hezekiah, who was fearful of the Lord and walked in His ways.

The Bible tells us in chapter 20 of the second book of Kings that Hezekiah fell too sick and at that moment the prophet Isaiah appeared to him and said to him, “Order your house because you will die”. But this man did not cling to the idea that he was going to die, but he cried out to God with all his heart so that no such thing would happen. In the same way there are many things that we ask of God and we must have faith in it, a giant faith, because God is pleased with that, because, those who do not have faith can not please God, therefore, faith is our great emblem, and we must ask God to put a faith like that of Hezekiah in us.

The Bible says that Hezekiah cried out to God:

2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord,

3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

2 Kings 20:2-3

After Hezekiah had done this prayer the Bible tells us the following:

4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him:

5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.

6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”

2 Kings 20:4-6

Brothers, this king received what he had asked God crying out with great weeping, but the secret is that this man did not come to God claiming anything or forcing Him to perform a miracle, but he approached with a simple heart in front of His Presence. In the same way we should approach God, with a pure and simple heart so that God answers our prayers.

There is nothing impossible for God and we must believe that, because at the least expected time we can also receive a miracle like Hezekiah.
