It is very true that God is close to His creation every day, and this is remarkable because if He was not with us then everything would go wrong in our lives. The Lord takes care of His creation, keeps it and warns them when someone wants to harm Him.
God loves His children, but He also corrects them when they are doing something bad, because only the evil one likes to practice such things that can harm humanity.
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.Psalm 46:1
Our God helps us to endure the tribulations, the anguish, He is always attentive to everything that happens around His children. Sometimes we go through moments of bitterness or shortness of breath, which is why we leave all the courage to continue, but God never arrives late, He comes at the moment we need it most.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.Psalm 46:7
Like many prophets and people who served the Lord, the psalmist David went through difficult trials, but God was with them and did not forsake them, but he came and helped them by strengthening their lives.
Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.Psalm 46:8
Sometimes God puts things in our lives, and this is because of the evil that man has in his thoughts and that are also directed to commit infractions and to harm others, but God seeks the form and corrects us because He does not want the bad for His creation, but that we all walk in the right way.
He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.Psalm 46:9
Our defense is in God, no one else will defend us like Him, the almighty, majestic God, worthy of glory and honor, who from the heavens looks at the earth. The Lord observes all His creation, helps us, contemplates the whole earth. His glory surrounds the whole earth and is visible to the whole earth. Trust in God and He will help us.
The nearness of God is one of the greatest comforts the believer can have. It is not a distant presence, nor a symbolic idea. It is a real, active, living presence that sustains, protects, and guides His children. If God withdrew His hand for even a moment, we would be overwhelmed by trials, temptations, and dangers that we cannot see. Yet He remains close, as a Father who watches attentively over every step of His beloved.
Psalm 46 presents God as a refuge—a safe place in the midst of chaos. This means that no matter how turbulent our surroundings may be, we can rest in Him. When life shakes us, when fear knocks on the door of the heart, when uncertainty presses in, God remains immovable. His strength becomes our strength. His peace becomes our shield. His presence becomes our fortress.
The psalmist David understood this truth deeply. He had enemies, betrayals, persecutions, and nights filled with tears. Yet he always found comfort in the fact that “the Lord Almighty is with us.” David knew that his victories were not the result of his own strength but of God’s protective hand. In the same way, when we face trials today—illness, financial struggle, loneliness, attacks of the enemy—we must remember that God stands at our side, fighting for us, covering us, and sustaining our faith.
Psalm 46 also invites us to observe the works of God: “Come and see what the Lord has done.” Sometimes we forget the ways in which God has protected us. There are dangers we never saw, temptations that did not reach us, spiritual battles fought on our behalf without our knowledge. God is constantly acting, even when we do not perceive it. His providence surrounds us like a shield.
The psalm reminds us that God intervenes not only in personal matters but also in world affairs. “He makes wars cease.” No human leader, no army, no strategy can achieve the peace that God can command with His word. When the world trembles under conflict, corruption, and violence, the believer can lift his eyes and say, “My refuge is not this world—my refuge is God.”
It is also important to remember that God’s discipline is an expression of His love. When He corrects us, it is not to destroy us but to redirect us. He wants to save us from harmful paths and bring us closer to His will. A Father who truly loves does not ignore the dangers His children face—He shapes, warns, and teaches.
Therefore, when life becomes difficult, let us not interpret God’s silence as absence. He is near. He is attentive. He is working. Let us place our trust in Him, for He alone is our refuge, our fortress, our defender, and our eternal help in times of trouble. His presence is our greatest assurance, today and forever.
