The Lord your God is with you

Most times people think that the Lord is far from them and that God is not looking at them, but they are wrong to think that God is not present. God is aware of everything that human beings do day by day.

The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

If God would not be with us, then He would not free us of so many things that can happen to us, and that is why we must keep in mind that God is with us. We can feel His holy presence, we feel His love, His mercy, and His peace.

Being with us, He frees us from death, strengthens us, helps us, when the evil one comes He perceives us, restores, gives food to the hungry soul, and His mercy remains with everyone who seeks Him.

I will remove from you
all who mourn over the loss of your appointed festivals,
which is a burden and reproach for you.

Zephaniah 3:18

The Lord making a promise to His people, giving them to understand to those people who would help them and gather all those who were annoyed because of their adversaries. For the Lord there is no heavy burden, He does not see how heavy the load is but He helps you with it.

At that time I will deal
with all who oppressed you.
I will rescue the lame;
I will gather the exiles.
I will give them praise and honor
in every land where they have suffered shame.

Zephaniah 3:19

The promises of the Lord have never been finished. God is and always will be faithful, but everyone who does evil and oppresses the afflicted in heart will have their pay, as it says in this Biblical verse. The Lord will save the righteous, and will gather the lost sheep, and will recognize everyone who is in their ways.

Many people come to believe that silence from God means absence, but the Scriptures repeatedly affirm the opposite. God is near, involved, attentive, and compassionate toward His creation. Even when people do not perceive Him, He is there—guiding, sustaining, and protecting. Human emotions fluctuate, and circumstances may cloud our spiritual vision, but God’s presence does not depend on how we feel. His Word declares that He is Emmanuel, “God with us,” and His character remains unchanging through every season.

Zephaniah 3:17 paints one of the most comforting pictures in the Old Testament: God as a mighty warrior who saves, and at the same time as a loving Father who delights in His children. He rejoices over His people with singing—an image that communicates tenderness, joy, and deep affection. This is not a distant deity but a God who takes pleasure in the lives of those who seek Him. When we feel forgotten or overwhelmed, this reminder becomes an anchor for our souls. The same God who fights our battles also sings over us with love.

If God were not with us, we would have perished long ago. Countless dangers—seen and unseen—surround us daily. Yet His protection covers us. He shields us from evil, strengthens us in weakness, and restores us when we are broken. His mercy sustains us when we fall, and His peace guards our hearts when anxiety seeks to overwhelm us. Every breath we take, every opportunity we receive, and every deliverance we experience is proof that God walks with His people.

The verses in Zephaniah also remind us that God sees the pain of His people. For Israel, the burden of exile, oppression, and shame was heavy. Yet God promised to remove their distress and to gather them again. This same promise extends spiritually to believers today. God is not indifferent to suffering. He carries the burdens we cannot lift and comforts those who mourn. What seems overwhelming to us is light for Him, for nothing is too hard for the Lord.

Furthermore, God is righteous. He does not overlook injustice. Those who oppress, harm, or exploit the vulnerable will face His judgment. Zephaniah 3:19 shows that God defends the weak, rescues the oppressed, and honors those who suffered shame. This gives believers hope: no pain is forgotten, no injustice ignored, no tear unseen. God Himself intervenes on behalf of His children.

The faithfulness of God is a constant theme in Scripture. His promises do not expire, His compassion does not diminish, and His love does not fade. He gathers the lost, restores the broken, and strengthens the weary. Even in seasons when it feels like darkness surrounds us, God is working behind the scenes, preparing deliverance and shaping our character.

Therefore, let us hold firmly to this truth: God is with us. He is near in our battles, present in our tears, and faithful in our struggles. His presence is our greatest assurance and our strongest comfort. Wherever we walk, He walks with us. Whatever we face, He faces it with us. And whatever the world takes from us, He is able to restore in greater measure. This is the God who rejoices over His people—our mighty warrior and loving Father.
