Today we have a pure disaster in many of our countries in the world, we see how a certain dictatorship has covered several nations, such as violence, crime, deaths, robberies, mistreatment of politicians towards the people, unfulfilled promises, etc, they are causing our countries to collapse like never before in history.
When we read the history of the people of Israel we realize that when they left God they suffered terrible consequences, but when they chose the Lord as their God they saw the blessings of God in their land. Nowadays, practically all governments have rejected God and have seen how humanity continually goes to evil, and today we have much to learn about the people of Israel, that nation that God chose.
The psalmist said:
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.
13 From heaven the Lord looks down
and sees all mankind;
14 from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth
Psalm 33:12-14
God calls those nations that choose Him as God “blessed”, that is, the same as “happy”. Why blessed? Because God is powerful, holy, no human can be compared to Him, no one can do all the great works that God does, no one can love a nation as much as God can.
The people of Israel won numerous battles with their God in front, but when they rebelled against God, then they began to lose, everything changed within the nation and in the same way it is for anyone who does not choose the Lord as their God, the difference between that type of people and a believer is abysmal, of course, not in the economic or anything like that, but in the sense that we have a hope, that we fight for something, that we hope for something and that that hope we have never fails.
Serving God is the greatest bliss we can name, there is no other thing under heaven or heaven that is more pleasing than serving the Creator.
When we observe the spiritual and moral condition of many nations today, it is impossible not to draw a parallel with ancient Israel. Just as that nation experienced cycles of obedience, blessing, rebellion and consequences, so too do modern societies. The deterioration we see—violence, corruption, moral confusion and social division—does not arise overnight. It is the result of turning away from principles that once provided stability, justice and order. When a nation removes God from its foundations, it also removes the light that exposes corruption and the truth that sustains righteousness.
In contrast, whenever Israel humbled itself and sought God, renewal came. Their victories were not merely military; they were the result of divine guidance. God prospered their steps, brought unity among the people and restored what had been lost. This same pattern can be seen in individual lives today. A person who walks without God may appear strong for a moment, but internally they lack direction, peace and a solid hope. On the other hand, he who chooses God finds purpose even in adversity, because his trust is not based on circumstances but on the unchanging character of the Lord.
Many of the crises our world faces—social, political and spiritual—can only be fully understood when we recognize the absence of God in the decisions of leaders and citizens. Nations legislate without taking into account divine principles, families dissolve because they lack spiritual foundations, and individuals wander in search of meaning because they have detached themselves from the One who gives meaning to life. Yet, despite this panorama, the Bible reminds us that God continues to look from heaven, observing all mankind, ready to bless those who turn their hearts toward Him.
This is why the words of the psalmist remain more relevant than ever. A nation is not blessed because of economic power, military strength, or advanced technology. True blessing comes when God is acknowledged as Lord, when His truth is respected, and when people walk according to His principles. Blessed is the nation, the family, and the person who decides to allow God to be at the center of their life. Such a decision brings peace in the midst of chaos and clarity in a world full of confusion.
Therefore, as believers, our task is not only to lament the condition of the world, but to be light within it. We must pray for our nations, live according to the teachings of Scripture, and trust that God continues to reign above all earthly powers. Serving God is not only a privilege—it is the path that leads us to true joy, hope, and eternal security.
