What is the love of God? Well, the love of God is something that we cannot even define as such, because when we examine ourselves and the people around us, we can see the limits that go beyond the love of God. God does not need us to do good deeds to love us, nor did He need us to be good people to save us or bestow His grace. And here lies the center of this entire reflection about the sublime love of God for us, His creation. His love exists independently of our actions, goodness, performance, or intentions. It is a love rooted in who He is, not in who we are.
We are given to love people for the good they do to us, but when a person does evil, we do not look at them with the same pleasure. But God is different. Our Creator has loved us even while we do evil every day. His love has overcome our evil, His light has overcome our darkness, His power has overcome our weakness, and His holiness has surpassed our humanity. His love is not reactive; it does not depend on our behavior. It comes from His eternal nature and flows abundantly toward us.
His love has no limits. He does not look at race, economic position, height, or beauty—no! God is not like us. He does not look at any of these things. He simply loves us as no one else loves us, and He does so without us deserving Him at all. While human love often has conditions, boundaries, and expectations, God’s love surpasses every barrier. He embraces the sinner, lifts the fallen, calls the lost, and restores the brokenhearted. His love is a force that transforms the most hardened hearts.
A good verse of the Bible to speak of God’s love is this:
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:10
We must read this verse very well so that we can grasp with great seriousness the indescribable love of God. Let us not use the arrogance of thinking that we are Christians because one day we decided it. Rather, we are Christians because God decided so. We did not sit down and say: “Today I will begin to love God.” On the contrary, God was the one who decided to love us, and this truly is a love that transcends the natural. His initiative in salvation reveals the depth of His love. He loved us when we were indifferent to Him, when we were enemies of His ways, when we chose darkness instead of light.
His love is proactive. He does not wait for us to fix ourselves, clean our lives, or become worthy. He steps into our brokenness and draws us to Himself through grace. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is the ultimate demonstration of divine love—a love willing to suffer, bleed, and die so that we may live forever. No human philosophy, poem, or expression of affection can compare to this perfect and undeserved love.
Glory be to our God who has loved us with such a pleasant love, and in this we rejoice every day—that without us deserving it, He loved us with great love. Let us meditate constantly on this truth, for it strengthens our faith, humbles our hearts, and fills us with gratitude. The love of God is not merely a doctrine; it is a living reality that surrounds us, sustains us, transforms us, and invites us to respond with worship and obedience. May we never forget that before we loved Him, He already loved us with an eternal and unstoppable love.

In this time period of pandemic virus, it is a right thing to show our love to brothers, or sick people, praying for them and hoping that God, for his love to mankind, will have mercy on all of us.
May God cause this great evil to end. He has mercy, and his just wrath against this evil world can be appeased—yes, against a world which does not want to be saved, nor pays any attention to the gospel of his son Jesus Christ, the only one who has paid for our guilt. It is only Jesus who appeases and pleases God the Father.
God does not want anyone to perish but that all may come to repentance.
‘This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
So let me emphasize this: the Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who pleases the Father, the way to go to Him. And, similarly, it is possible for HIm to grant any gift to this world, even the gift of being saved from this evil virus.
Let’s pray to God for mercy on all of us; and may He even make this evil thing be the means through which someone comes to Jesus for repentance of sins.
