Our help is in the name of the Lord

It is very good to read each story of the Bible, since in addition to being good, they are not simply “stories”, they are real, true cases, from which we can learn to apply to our lives. An example is the people of Israel, from them we can learn as much from their mistakes as from their virtues. This nation deviated from the road multitudes of times in spite of seeing the hand of God as it was with them.

In many moments the people of Israel forgot that God was their refuge and resorted to other “gods”. It is very true that in those situations they forgot all the favors, great and powerful acts that God had done with a strong hand for them. In the same way, God has also done powerful works in us and sometimes we forget that the Lord is our refuge, our hope and Rock of salvation.

The psalmist said:

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 124:6-8

I love the psalms of David, since he was a man who knew God and his powerful hand well and even in the terrible moments he knew that the Lord was his refuge. Can we think the same in moments like this? We should, since in this world there is no other refuge, there is no other rock and there is no other Savior. There is only one savior and it is our beloved Lord Jesus Christ, to Him and only to Him be the glory for all ages, amen.

“Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” That verse have something special, and it is not only that the psalmist says that the Lord is our help, but also that that Lord is the Creator of heaven and earth. The psalmist is expressing the absolute power that our Creator has.

Brothers, our God is powerful, we trust in Him, we do not take shelter in other supposed refuges that in the end do not give us the help that we really need. I invite you to trust in God with all your heart.

  1. Thanks for today’s article. I have a question on “How do we know when we are spoken or called by God?. And also how do we know when God’s anger is on us?.”

    1. GOD put HIS wrath in JESUS at the cross IF you are born again there is NO anger from GOD on you, ,if a person refuses to believe in JESUS ,GODS wrath remains on them

  2. Thank you Lord for it is a privilege for to be a partaker of your words in my life. strengthen me and do not forsake me oh Lord.

  3. I started to pray since I was young until now, but my problem is I’m having all the troubles of the world, so I don’t know why bad things happen like this in my life, pls guys pray for me and advice, thank you , GOD bless you all

    1. John 14:1
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”

      Roman 5:3-5
But we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Continue your faith, just believe. In Jesus name. Amen.

(Just keep on praying brothers and sisters, stand firm until the 2nd coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.)

It is pleasurable to the Father to listen to our prayers when they are made in the name of the Lord Jesus, His Son.

“And whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
    (John 14:13)

Nobody can ask the Lord trivial or vain things, like to make you rich, or to help you achieve a high position in society; and we cannot assume that the Lord will accept those petitions, just because they are made in Jesus’s name.

God’s Word teaches us that an overwhelmed person is comforted and helped by the Lord. The Lord hears our petitions and grants them sometimes in His due time.

In difficult times, when the Lord tests our faith, we can go to Him full of trust, and He will help us because, truly, as the psalmist confesses:
“Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
    Psalm 124:6-8

We are in the hands of the Lord, and we can be quiet and rest assured, even in difficulties: for He is our Father who loves us.
