When we speak of God’s mercy, we are referring to God’s compassion for us and helping us to understand that He is the only helper of our lives.
In this world we meet different types of people who do not pity others, nor have mercy, but there is one who does mercy and pities us and that is Lord God of armies who helps us and sustains us at all times.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
Ephesians 2:4
It is a very good thing to read this Biblical verse, where it tells us that the owner of mercy is called God, and that He is rich in mercy, and that there is no one else like that.
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit
Titus 3:5
Let us be clear that His mercy is not for our works of justice, but because God has been pleased to have mercy on us, and that no one can believe that by a work that he has done God will have mercy, but that it will depend on His sovereign will.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3
His mercy is so great that in 1 Peter we can see how this man speaks, and he says that His mercy is a living hope that makes us be born again, and makes us understand all the things that happen and that are around us.
It is good that, if God has mercy on us, we also do the same with others, do not the same as those who have no compassion for the others. It is good that if you are not practicing this you start doing it without show favoritism.
God’s mercy is one of the most profound themes revealed in Scripture, and throughout the Bible we find example after example of how God shows compassion toward humanity. From the beginning of creation, when Adam and Eve sinned and deserved immediate death, God showed mercy by covering them and giving them a promise of redemption. This same mercy has followed us through every generation, proving that God is patient, slow to anger, and abundant in steadfast love.
When we think about mercy, we must also consider how unworthy we are of it. None of us can stand before God and claim that we deserve His compassion. We fail daily, we stumble, we forget His goodness, and yet He continues to extend mercy toward us. This alone should move us to humility. The psalmist said that God does not deal with us according to our sins, but according to His great mercy. If He were to treat us according to what we truly deserve, none of us would stand.
Another important aspect is that God’s mercy is renewed every morning. This means that every day we awaken with a fresh opportunity to draw near to Him, to repent, to begin again, and to walk in the light of His compassion. Many people wake up carrying guilt and shame from the day before, but the Word teaches us that His mercies “are new every morning.” We breathe today because mercy sustained us. We stand today because mercy upheld us. We continue in faith because mercy strengthens us.
Understanding this should completely transform the way we treat others. If God has forgiven us again and again, how could we refuse forgiveness to those around us? If God has shown patience with our weaknesses, how could we be harsh with the weaknesses of others? Mercy received must become mercy given. It is impossible to know the mercy of God and remain indifferent to human suffering.
Jesus Himself taught us to be merciful, not only with those who treat us well but even with our enemies. Mercy is not weakness but a reflection of the character of God in our hearts. When we show compassion, we mirror the heart of Christ. When we refuse bitterness and resentment, we walk in the Spirit. When we choose to help someone who cannot repay us, we imitate our Father in heaven.
Therefore, let us live each day remembering that we are products of mercy. Let this truth soften our hearts, guide our actions, and shape the way we relate to the world. And may our lives be a testimony that the mercy of God is real, powerful, and available to all who call upon His name.
