The Gadarene demoniac

The Bible tells us that they arrived in the land of the Gerasenes, and behold, they met a man who was demon-possessed. The Word tells us that this demon-possessed man wore no clothes, he did not dwell in his house, but his house was the tombs:

And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.

Luke 8:27

This devilish man was very aggressive with everything that crossed his path, and this is because he was demon-possessed, he was possessed by legions of demons.

“Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

Luke 8:39

The Bible tells us that this man had a lot of time like this, but people never thought that the demoniac Gadarene was going to be liberated.

Jesus asks his name, and he answers “legions, because we are many”. The demons that possessed him always attacked him with all his strength so that he committed all kinds of destruction.

It says that after all that the man went through, Jesus freed him from what was unhappy with that boy who had been in this condition for a long time. But this young man wanted to follow the teacher wherever he went, but Jesus told him no, but to go and tell and testify of what had happened to him.

There is another Biblical verse that speaks to us, about what happens with those people who turn away from the path of God.

Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

Matthew 12:45

It is good that we keep in mind that when we come to Christ we are a new creature, and not only that, but that we do not stray from these paths, because if we do we will suffer the consequences, since that demon that cornered us will seek more help so that our lives are destroyed in their entirety. Let’s be wise and let’s not leave the path that leads us to salvation.
