Love has grown cold

It is very difficult to define the word love, but we can define it as an act of mercy, which is the meaning that is often given in the Bible. Has love grown cold in our times? Of course, yes. As the years go by we see many deceptions in the streets and this has hardened the hearts of many people, including believers of Christ.

Nowadays it is natural to see people asking in the streets to satisfy their vices, others do it as a business, and there is another group that do it because they really need it. But how do we know what kind of person is asking us? Many times there is no a way to discover it and that is why we choose not to do it.

The Book of Matthew chapter 24 tells us:

Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.

Matthew 24:12

In this chapter Jesus completely takes these words to answer about the things that were going to happen before the end of the world, and in this verse that we have quoted we can see a multiplication of evil, which is exactly what we have been seeing since the fall of Adam, growing sin, man going after his own delights and forgetting about the Holy Creator.

Perhaps we of this century are seeing little evil for which looms if this land lasts a hundred years. Can you imagine what our society would be like in a hundred years? It is better not to think about it, since that would be terrible.

The wickedness of today’s man is so great that he is making the hearts of many people cold before the acts of mercy. I know Christians who say that they are not able to give money to a person who asks in the street, precisely because of the above. So, here we have to ask ourselves how to act in these circumstances, because the Bible itself tells us:

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Matthew 5:42

The Bible also tells us:

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Matthew 25: 35-36

These are works that belong to a Christian and are the mark that we are truly saved people. We can not allow under any circumstances that the prevailing evil that exists leads us to have a cold heart and without any kind of mercy.

Let us ask the Lord for discernment, to know how to act in the face of a world that is increasingly heading towards decline.
