The Bible tell us about the story of a king that prayed to God and got more years of life. The name of that king was Hezekiah, who began to reing in Jerusalem when he was 25 years old. The Bible tells us about good and bad kings, bud Hezekiah was of those good kings that are registered in the Chronicles of the kings of Israel, and talks aboud tim: “And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.” (2 Chronicles 29:2) .
Hezekiah was a very important king, that is, he did very important works during his reign, because, as we wrote in our introductory paragraph: “There were good and bad kings”. There were many kings who were so bad, that almost all the people of Israel went after the idols.
And one of the important works that Hezekiah did during his reign was to re-establish the cult of the temple, for it says:
3 In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the Lord and repaired them.
4 He brought in the priests and the Levites, assembled them in the square on the east side
5 and said: “Listen to me, Levites! Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of the Lord, the God of your ancestors. Remove all defilement from the sanctuary.
