Blessed are those who believe without seeing

Christianity is very questioned in our days, and of course, from the beginning, by the fact that we believe in a person we do not see and because of this situation they call us superficial and idiots. However, they believe in things they can not prove: In the theory of evolution, the Big Bang, and in many other things that are very questioned in our days. But we are the target on which all the arrows are thrown. Our faith does not come from having a vision where we saw God sitting on a white throne. Our faith has come from listening to the powerful Word of God, which has changed all our senses. And it has changed us to such a point that we are new people. On the other hand, our faith is also based on nature itself, which expresses by itself that there is a superior and creative being who is God.

The Bible says:

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:1

Paul also says in his Letter to the Romans:

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

Romans 10:17

We have heard a message that has simply changed us. The message of a man who died on the cross, who endured all the pain of humanity for sinners without grace. This is the most wonderful message! This is the message that can change the vicious of drugs and alcohol, and all kinds of sin. Nobody but Christ can change the course of the human being.

The Bible tells us about a man named Thomas, who belonged to the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. Said man did not seem to have a complete faith in Jesus, since He had instructed his disciples that He would be resurrected on the third day, but when Christ rose again Thomas showed an attitude of great doubt.

Thomas, who was nicknamed the Twin, and who was one of the twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus arrived. So the other disciples told him:

So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

John 20:25

That Thomas that John talks about represents our century, a world that does not want to believe in the existence of a God because they can not see Him. For Thomas it was impossible for Christ to be alive, it is as if he did not believe any of the words spoken by Jesus before.

Jesus did not leave this case with Thomas like that, but later he gave him the proof that he needed to believe:

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

John 20:26

This verse impresses me a lot, because, here we can see Jesus who after a week goes to where the disciples were gathered to show them again, and to our surprise, there was the great unbeliever Thomas, in the same place where Jesus was .

Jesus, as one who knows the thoughts and talk of man, has a conversation directly with Thomas and says:

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

John 20:27

Jesus made Thomas feel everything he wanted to feel so he could believe that Christ had risen. Simply Thomas did not have the great privilege of believing without seeing, which is granted to us who believe without having seen Christ.

Thomas responded to Jesus:

Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

John 20:28

Now Thomas believed, has all the evidence there before his eyes, how can he not believe? Even the greatest unbeliever of all ages would have believed in that moment. As we tend to say in some situations: “So it’s easy”. But, what privilege did Thomas have regarding faith? None.

Jesus concludes with some great words for Thomas and for ourselves:

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed;blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.(V.29)

Jesus uses the word “Blessed”, what is a blessed person? A blessed person is one who feels fully satisfied, who enjoys something good. In our case, that “something good” is having the privilege of believing in something we have not seen, of professing a person we have not seen and that is a great privilege, that’s why Jesus says: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet they believe. “

We are happy and this must put us in an indescribable position. Let’s continue with that bliss of Believing in Christ and doing his will and do not stray to any side, but rather continue to spread our faith to those who do not believe in this truth.

What are you giving to Jesus?
