A sincere prayer

When we say “a sincere prayer”, we are talking about that our prayer must be from the heart, because sometimes we meet people who want give to notice what they do and this is to boast before others.

Let’s see a definition of the word “sincerity”:

From the Latin sinceritas, sincerity is the way to express oneself without lies or pretense. The term is associated with truthfulness and simplicity. For example: “Sincerity is a value much appreciated in this company”, “The player once again showed his sincerity and acknowledged that he is playing below his level”, “Yes you would have spoken with sincerity, your partner would not have left you. “

The following biblical quote is to make us understand that everything we do must be for the glory of God, and not for ourselves.

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

Matthew 6:5

Jesus spoke very clearly to the scribes and pharisees, and on this occasion he tells them that glory is only for God. The scribes and pharisees loved to manifest their works in front of everyone to be seen by everyone. They used to pray in public places, not to glorify God, but to be seen and praised by people.

It is good that when we go to do something, we do it so that God may glorify us in our lives. But if we focus on doing things so that others see and praise us, then what we were doing will not help. Then it was worth nothing to last 20, 30, 40 years in the ways of the Lord just looking for our glory.

The Bible urges us to be wise, and that what we do, we do it with wisdom.

6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:6

It is very important that we avoid being like the scribes. We know that the Lord is faithful and just, He tells us that what we do in secret our Father will reward us in public, and this is what we must believe, that God promises to fulfill as He says in his Word.

7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:7,8

It is important to know that the Lord Himself speaks to us about these things that happen, in this we must be very careful and not be similar to them as Jesus is saying, and we must listen to these words spoken by Him, because He knows all things, even what we need.

And as He knows our needs, we must avoid making vain repetitions. God takes care of everything we need. It is true that we must pray, but without repeating so much.

Sincere prayer to God, helps us every day to be faithful, but sometimes it is difficult to go through a situation where our faith dwindles. We must believe God that He will supply all our needs and will strengthen us in moments of weakness, in which we will lack food, clothing, and even a loved one. Let’s be honest with God until He comes for us on the day of his coming.

  1. A sincere prayer
    =============
When we pray to God, He loves it as we are simple and sincere, using words that express our feelings and that we utter just for the Lord to hear—not for men and women near us. God does know our thoughts, and He does not need to hear our audible words; but he listens and is attentive to the voice of our supplications—of our hearts.
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
    (Psalm 51:17)

The Lord Jesus Christ showed us what kinds of people are unpleasant to God: those who are false and haughty, that try to be praised by others when they pray publicly in the congregation, or among others to be seen by them.
The prayers of such people will not be heard by God. It is vain prayer.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.” Matthew 6:5

Jesus said it is good for a prayer to be directed to God alone, seeking communion with Him in our rooms, in a secret place where no one can disturb us. This prayer that comes from a broken and contrite heart will be heard by the Lord. Really the Lord God listens to anguished people, to those who fervently pray to Him, as their unique hope in their need.

May the people of God direct to Him their prayers, with a spirit of truth and sincerity; so that we can be helped in our troubles
