Many times we think that Jesus walks far away from us, distant and almost unreachable. Yet the Scriptures teach us the opposite. The apostle Paul declared, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17:28, KJV). We exist in God because He is life itself. So if at any moment you have felt that Jesus is miles away, that is not true—He is closer than you can imagine. The real problem is not His absence, but our inability at times to recognize His presence.
This article is based on Luke 24:16:
But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. Luke 24:16 (KJV)
This passage is part of a powerful and inspiring story. Christ had already risen from the dead, fulfilling the promise He made to His disciples. Yet, as two followers walked on the road to Emmaus, they did not recognize Him. Their hearts were troubled, their faith shaken, and their hope seemingly gone. Jesus approached them, walked beside them, and listened to their sorrow—but they remained unaware of who He was. Because of their unbelief, Jesus told them, “O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.” (Luke 24:25, KJV). They spoke about the miracles and wonders Jesus had performed before His crucifixion, but their eyes were still blinded to the truth of His resurrection.
In many ways, we are like them. Sometimes we are foolish and slow of heart. Even after seeing God’s goodness, mercy, and provision in our lives, we still doubt His divine grace. We question His plans, His timing, and His care for us. But often, this spiritual blindness is something God allows for a time—so that when our eyes are finally opened, we see the glory of Christ more clearly and more deeply than before. What seems like spiritual confusion can become a doorway to spiritual revelation.
Jesus, full of truth yet full of patience, walked with the disciples on the road. He did not abandon them for their unbelief; instead, He taught them. He unfolded the Scriptures, beginning with Moses and continuing through the prophets, showing them everything written about Himself. Imagine hearing the risen Christ explain the Word of God—what a sacred and unforgettable moment that must have been!
Then verses 30 and 31 tell us something extraordinary:
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luke 24:30–31 (KJV)
Notice this: their eyes were opened. The same Christ who had walked with them for miles was now revealed to them in a moment of divine grace. And is this not what has happened to us? Many of us lived years of our lives blind to the presence of Christ, unaware that the Master walked beside us, guiding us, sustaining us, and calling us. But one day, by God’s mercy, our spiritual eyes were opened. We recognized the Lord, and everything changed. This awakening is not something we achieved on our own; it is the grace of God. It doesn’t make us better than the Pharisees or scribes—it simply makes us recipients of His mercy.
Brothers and sisters, Jesus is around us. He is nearer than the air we breathe. Let us not doubt His presence for even a second. He walks with us in sorrow and joy, in weakness and strength. He comforts us, speaks to us with tenderness, and guides us toward Himself.
May our eyes remain open to recognize Him—not only on the mountaintops, but on the everyday road of life, just as He appeared on the road to Emmaus.

Jesus is walking by your side, do you know him?
======================
By faith we can be sure that our Lord Jesus Christ is with us, but we can feel it if we seek Him. It is good for our souls to have fellowship with Jesus. If we look for Him, he will be with us.
“When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.”
Luke 24:30-31
The disciples who went on their way to Emmaus met and knew that Jesus was with them at the moment he broke the bread they were to eat. And, similarly, now we also can notice his presence in our souls if we spiritually speak with him in prayer: telling him everything of us, our pains, our gaieties. all things, every day asking him to forgive our faults also.
Let’s seek the Lord: because he wants to be found by us. We can go confidently to Jesus; and he will show himself to us, for he loves us.
May his name be Glorified by all of us
