Psalm 84 is a very significant Psalm for us, which teaches us how important it was for the psalmist to be in the house of God. Does it matter to us to assemble ourselves in the house of the Lord?
The psalmist opens this psalm with the exclamation: How kind are your dwellings, O LORD of hosts! Is this our exclamation? Without a doubt, the psalmist shows that thirst to be in the house of God and it is not for less that we likewise have the same feeling for being in the house of God. We live in very modern times where many believers are not interested in assemblig. On the other hand, there is also the excuse of work and many other things, but, is our longing to dwell in the house of God?
The psalmist also says: “Blessed are those who dwell in your house, they will perpetually praise you.” The author of this psalm declares that he who dwells in the house of God is a blessed man or woman. Here we can add another bliss: “Blessed is he that dwells in the house of God.” Why is he blessed? It is because he is fulfilling God’s purpose over man, which man himself since Eden has tried to cast aside for his own selfish desires.
