Injustices of life

The more years go by and our societies modernize, the more we see injustice reigning in governments and in many other areas of life. The human being has been characterized as being unjust, and this is why the psalmist says in Psalm 53 verse 3: “Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one”. Injustice has been practiced since creation, you can find it the story of Cain and Abel, it is natural that injustice has evolved in our current society.

In Ecclesiastes 3 we find:

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

Ecclesiastess 3:16-22

From this text we learn several things and they are the following:

1. There is no justice on earth

It is normal to know that many of our governments do not do the true justice, we also know that today there are many people imprisoned because the judge of that city was bought by a person with a lot of wealth who did not want to go to jail and lose his good reputation. It is also true to see how many dealers alter their products even though this is illegal. And if we keep mentioning more injustices that happen in this world we would not finish today, and Solomon saw that back then.

2. Both the just and the unjust will be judged by God

The human being lives as if he will never have to account for his actions, however, the Bible shows us that we will all be one day before God, both the just and the unjust. Someday, all the people who have done injustice will be before the divine tribunal of Christ:

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10

3. Man is like a beast

Examining the context of the verse we realize that both the wicked and the righteous are likened to a beast, why? The same chapter says it:

Conclusion

The life of man arrives and leaves early. We do not live an eternity here on earth, the life of man is like the grass that is soon dried and thrown into the fire. Let us live a life doing justice to others, living for God, loving our neighbor and asking God to help us every day more to be like his Son Jesus.

People who have the fear of God in their minds and their souls hate injustice and seek to follow goodness and justice. It is a just thing, which pleases the Lord, for a worker to receive his salary, or for anyone who labors in some area, like ministers of the gospel, to be acknowledged and receive a salary for their work.
“For the scripture said, You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his reward.” (1 Timothy 5:18)

Those who seek their own profit do not care if they harm others, or if they use their social position to their advantage: so, for example, they judge others unjustly, they abuse others to increase their own goods, or they become wise in other people’s view. But, because they follow the vanity of this life—the injustices of life which do not please the Lord God—in the end they will not be blessed in their lives or work.

Christians ought to serve their Master and work to help others to know Christ—helping them in what will last for eternity. It is not useful to get riches or acknowledgment of men if we make unjust things the Lord does not approve of.

Fool people, who are not instructed in the will of God, do not distinguish between beasts and mankind; they think both have the same end: death. That’s why they live on the earth trying to be happy, and rejoicing in things in life for as long as they can enjoy
them: because they think that is all which both beast and men have on the earth.

“But to you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and you shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” (Malachi 4:2)

We must have our eyes set on justice and holiness in our lives, because God has appointed a day on which he will judge the world, in righteousness, by his son Jesus Christ (Acts 17:31).

And it is wise and beneficial to remember we must treat people with justice and love here, during the time God gives us life in this world. An important reason for that is we will give an account of our actions to Him who knows everything of us.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
    2 Corinthians 5:10

May the Lord God give us a sense of justice and charity towards our neighbors and other people, so that we can, indeed, act with justice and our neighbors can glorify the Lord God, the Sun of righteousness.
