The always victorious church

Since the founding of the church, the body of Christ has suffered extremely painful scenes, but those tense moments led the church of Christ to be a much stronger church. We as a church have a great victory from now on, and that can not be revoked, although we see millions rise up against the church of Christ, because there is a great promise that sustains us immovably and just that we will speak today.

Since the very beginning of the Christian movement, believers have faced opposition, rejection and persecution, not because they lacked faith, but because the message of Christ challenges the darkness of this world. Even today, although times have changed, the spiritual battle remains the same. The Church continues to be attacked in different ways—through ideologies, moral decay, and open hostility to the gospel. Yet, every generation of Christians discovers that the strength of the Church does not depend on human power but on the One who founded it. This truth brings comfort to every believer who faces moments of fear or uncertainty.

This promise is found in the book of Matthew Chapter 16:18:

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:18

Throughout the years of the Christian age, the church has suffered greatly, although not all times have been suffering, but we see from the book of Acts that early the church began to suffer hardships, and that church enjoyed in middle of its great tribulations, for they knew that they had the great privilege of suffering for the cause of the sovereign Christ. Would we feel the same satisfaction for suffering for the sake of Christ?

This powerful passage from Matthew has served as an anchor for countless believers. It is a declaration of divine authority and an affirmation that Christ Himself is the builder and protector of His Church. The “gates of hell” represent every force of darkness that attempts to destroy the work of God, yet Jesus assures us that none of these efforts will prosper. When the early church faced imprisonment, stoning, and death, this promise was not merely a theological idea—it was their source of endurance. They understood that suffering for Christ was not a tragedy but an honor, a sign that they belonged to the Kingdom of God.

Beloved brother, if we were suffering moments like that, we should be greatly hopeful, because we have a promise from heaven and is that the doors of Hades will not prevail against us. This is extremely glorious and indescribable, and those of us who have studied the history of the church from beginning to end, realize that this promise has been fulfilled; There is no man who has been able to stop the work of Christ in his Church, nor taking us to the gallows, nor crucifyig us, nor whipping us, nor killing us, there is no way to stop us, but the more we are oppressed the more we multiply, the more the Word of God grows.

Looking back through history, we see empires rise and fall, governments change, and cultures transform. Yet the Church of Christ remains. Persecution only purified its faith, and attempts to silence it only amplified its message. From the Roman Empire to modern nations that forbid Christianity, the testimony is the same: Christ keeps His promise. His Church cannot be defeated because it is founded on an unshakeable rock—the person and work of Jesus Christ.

And all this is not because we have been very strong or we have had a lot of courage, it is due to the work of Christ completed on the cross and to His great promise that He would be with us until the end.

For this reason, the believer can walk with peace and certainty. Our strength does not depend on human strategies or numbers but on the eternal presence of the Lord. Christ did not abandon His church in its darkest hours, and He will not abandon it today. When trials arise, we can remember that the victory is already guaranteed by the One who conquered death and the grave.

So, let us feel privileged to belong to the most important organization in the universe and at the same time let us feel greatly hopeful that despite the trials and difficulties God will not allow the enemy to defeat us.

Let this truth encourage your heart: being part of the Church means being part of a victorious body that marches forward under the authority of Christ. No attack, no crisis, no persecution can overturn what God has established. Therefore, stand firm, cherish your faith, and continue proclaiming the gospel with boldness. The Founder of the Church remains at the head of His people, guiding, strengthening, and ensuring that His purpose will be fulfilled until the very end.

Fixing our eyes on Jesus
Be strong and of a good courage

    ======================
By faith revealed by the Father, Peter said to the Lord Jesus:
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
    (Matthew 16:16)

    And Jesus said to him:
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

Christ is the rock, the rock of eternity. On Him, the beloved Son of the Father, will his Church be built.

It is by faith on Jesus, the Rock, that his Church will always be victorious against the forces of darkness.
He was victorious on the Cross against the Devil and Hell. He defeated death and his sting, sin: because without death there is no sin.
Jesus cleansed his people of their sins—and he did that in his own flesh, by his spilt blood.

Through the ages, the Church of Christ will prevail: for he is his Head, and he is the Lord God of Heaven and Earth. The demonstration of his glory and power will surprise everyone when he comes back with the resurrection of dead.

May the name of Christ be blessed for ever, for the Father’s and his Holy Spirit’s glory
