My soul thirsts for you

The psalmist David said in Psalm chapter 63:

O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.

Psalm 63:1

Can we say the same as the psalmist: My flesh longs for you? It is very true that God allows those hard moments so that we feel that motivation to seek Him. It is also true that when we are very comfortable we forget to look for God and He has to put us in those moments so that we understand that outside Him we are nothing.

The psalmist says something very important in verse 3: “Your lovingkindness is better than life.” In this Psalm we find a person that knows very well that the most important thing is God, that you can not live without Him, that God is more than life itself, since there are people who have life but are dead because they do not have God.

We invite you to do every day like the psalmist, to bless God in your life, and to raise your arms in his name, because for Him we breathe, move and are.

    Surely any of those who know a little the Bible must have read some Psalms of David. In them we find what David is like, his love, and the dedication he had to the Lord God. Really he had fellowship with Him.

    Only one person who loves the Lord and has associated with Him intimately can say: “My soul thirsts for you”.

    He had tested how sweet a close fellowship with the Lord can be, and in the Psalm he is supposed to be in the desert, a place where there is no water, far away from the courtyard of the temple, where people used to meet, all together, to worship the Lord.

    David lifted up his voice to God and said:
    “O God, You are my God;
    Early will I seek You;
    My soul thirsts for You;
    My flesh longs for You
    In a dry and thirsty land
    Where there is no water.”
    Psalm 63:1

    O God, you are my God, says David.
    Every day in the morning he seeks the Lord and adores and prays to Him. Every day he has fellowship with Him and shares with Him all his problems and difficulties. The Lord God knows every thing which happens in the mind and heart of David. He enjoys His presence, and, now in his loneliness, he misses the Lord, so he says: “my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you.”
    He was like a deer, which needs to drink from the brook of water, or like a lover who spiritually longs for his love.

    I guess few of us know anything about that spiritual love that David expresses. However, we can seek the Lord and he will be near us. He will meet us. The Lord says to his people: “seek you me and you shall live” (Amos 5:4):
    He also says:
    “For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.”
    (Luke 11:10)

    May the Lord God lead us to seek him every day in prayer, as well as to keep in us a habit of depending on God’s power. Surely we will be blessed
