Jesus Himself said: I am the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Christ is life, and serving Him is not something out of date, nor is it wasting time, on the contrary, in Christ we have found what we had never found in anything: “Life”.
The apostles and the early church were very clear that Christ was life itself, since they were willing to die for Him, since they knew that if they died for Christ, it would still produce life for them, and the truth is that those who die in Christ they do not do it eternally, but live in Him eternally.
The Bible says:
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Paul did not see death as a defeat for the Christian, rather, he saw it as a reward and gain at the same time, because being immediately with the Lord was a reward for the apostle.
Second, Paul was not afraid of death, because He was sure where he would go at the time of death. Are we safe like him? Well, let’s try to be secure, because our pilgrimage in this world should not be in vain.
