We must never say “no” to God’s purpose in our lives, if we are of the Lord, then we must obey in all that He wants to do with us. Denying God’s purpose is not right, remember that God is sovereign.
When we do not do what God commands us, we are being disobedient before God, this does not please God.
We can give an example of one of the greatest stories and it was when God called Moses, whose name means “Rescued from the waters”.
Moses was called to fulfill God’s purpose to get His people out of the slavery of Egypt, but do you think Moses would find a way to escape from that mission or purpose of God with that people? Well, no, since that people needed God’s help, and their only hope was in God. That is why we do should refuse the purpose of God.
Throughout Scripture, we see that God has always had a plan for His people. That plan is not based on human strength, intelligence, or ability, but on God’s perfect will. When God calls someone, He already knows their weaknesses, fears, and limitations. Therefore, refusing God’s purpose does not come from humility, but often from fear, doubt, or lack of trust in God’s power.
Moses himself initially felt incapable. He considered himself slow of speech and unworthy of such a great mission. Yet God did not change His plan because of Moses’ insecurities. Instead, God reassured him, promised His presence, and provided help along the way. This teaches us that God does not call the prepared, but He prepares those He calls. His purpose is always accompanied by His provision.
In our own lives, God may call us to serve, to forgive, to speak His Word, or to walk in obedience even when circumstances seem difficult. Often, like Moses, we may want to step back and say “no” because the task feels too heavy or the road too uncertain. However, saying “yes” to God opens the door for Him to work in ways we could never imagine.
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Psalm 143:10
Like this man, before stopping doing the will of God, better, “Lord teach me to do your will”, that is, David did not stop God’s purpose, but obeyed Him in everything. Let us not be afraid to accept God’s purpose, but rather ask God to give us strength to fulfill what God has entrusted to us. God is good.
David understood that doing God’s will was not a burden, but a blessing. He knew that God’s Spirit leads us on the right path, even when the way seems unclear. Asking God to teach us His will is an act of surrender and trust. It shows that we recognize Him as our Lord and ourselves as His servants.
Obedience to God is not always easy, but it always produces fruit. When we walk according to His purpose, we experience peace, direction, and spiritual growth. Disobedience, on the other hand, brings confusion and distance from God. That is why it is so important to remain sensitive to God’s voice and willing to follow His guidance.
God’s purpose is never meant to harm us. Even when it involves trials or challenges, His ultimate goal is to shape our character and draw us closer to Him. Just as He used Moses to bring freedom to Israel, God desires to use our lives to bless others and glorify His name.
Let’s be obedient to God. If God chose us, let’s not refuse His enormous will. God is with us.
May our daily prayer be to trust God fully, to submit our plans to Him, and to walk faithfully in the purpose He has designed for us. When we say “yes” to God, we allow His power, grace, and love to be manifested through our lives.
